October is my favourite month, but I have to admit, this month hasn’t been the best for me. I’ve been trying to make the most of it, but I’ve had some sort of bug since the beginning of October that I just can’t seem to shake. That, along with really bad allergies, means I’ve been feeling under the weather for most of the month.
There’s only a week and a half left of October now, and I’m going to try and enjoy every last bit of it. Not only that, but I’m also going to be productive on here with four blogposts coming to you between now and the 30th (that might not seem like a lot, but that’s a lot for me). So today, I’m starting things off with a long overdue Product Empties post. Enjoy!
Haircare
COLAB Paradise Invisible Dry Shampoo*
Pros: Absorbs excess oil, contains no white residue, does not weigh down my hair, doesn’t build up in my hair and make my scalp as itchy as other dry shampoos, sprays well, smells good, love the packaging
Cons: I can see the scent being a bit too much for those that are sensitive to fragrance
Repurchase? Yes.
Pros: Protects your hair from the elements, prevents frizz, sprays well and evenly, doesn’t weigh your hair down, adds noticeable texture to my hair and enhances my natural waves, paraben-free, alcohol-free, vegan, cruelty-free
Cons: Unfortunately, I didn’t actually get to finish this product, as the top of it came off in my bag, so it’s definitely not travel friendly
Repurchase? Yes. I just won’t travel with it.
Pantene 3 Minute Miracle Repair & Protect Deep Conditioner
Pros: Really works to deep condition the hair leaving it softer and smoother, really good for dry, damaged hair, smells delicious, super affordable
Cons: Wish it had a better ingredient list
Repurchase? Yes.
Skincare
Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser
Pros: Cleanses the skin nicely, enjoyed using this first thing in the morning, as the orange extract perks up the skin, specifically designed for sensitive and dry skin, does not disrupt the moisture balance in your skin
Cons: A little too gentle for me as an exfoliator, pricey, just wasn’t ‘wowed’ by the product to justify the price
Repurchase? No.
Nivea MicellAIR Micellar Water for Dry and Sensitive Skin
Pros: Easily and effectively removes all of my makeup, very gentle, as it is designed for dry and sensitive skin, leaves my face feeling fresh and clean, no product residue, fragrance-free, great value for the price
Cons: Can’t think of anything
Repurchase? Yes. This is my new favourite micellar water.
Nivea Essentials 24H Moisture Boost + Matte Day Cream SPF 15
Pros: Great, lightweight moisturizer for everyday, gives my skin an instant boost of moisture, absorbs quickly, minimizes shine, wears well under makeup, affordable, oil-free, contains SPF 15
Cons: In a jar (contaminating), 24H is a bit of a stretch
Repurchase? Yes, but not right away.
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+
Pros: Amazing daily moisturizer that instantly eliminates any dryness on the face, quenches the skin and leaves my face looking more radiant, helps to strengthen the skin’s own moisture barrier, designed for dry, combo skin, absorbs quickly, lightweight on the skin, wears extremely well under makeup, paraben-free
Cons: Pricey
Repurchase? Yes.
Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Ultra Radiance SPF 30 Sunscreen Spray
Pros: Non-greasy formula that sprays on clear, doesn’t feel as sticky on the skin as a lot of other spray sunscreens, gives my skin a pretty sheen, never get burnt wearing this, sprays well, affordable, smells good
Cons: Even though it smells good, it still has a bit of that chemical smell that spray sunscreens have—though nowhere near as strong as others
Repurchase? Yes. I will definitely be buying this again for next summer.
Bath & Body
Live Clean Fresh Water Hydrating Body Wash*
Pros: Leaves skin feeling soft, moisturized and clean, gentle on the skin, lathers up really well, a little goes a long way, smells great, affordable, get a ton of product for the price (500 mL), eco-friendly, free of any harsh ingredients, vegan, cruelty-free
Cons: Nothing!
Repurchase? Yes. Fresh Water is one of my favourite Live Clean scents.
Pros: Smells nice, absorbs well into the skin
Cons: Not that moisturizing, contains five different parabens, expensive, find it gimmicky like a lot of perfumed body lotions
Repurchase? No. I only bought this because it was on clearance.
Makeup
Pros: Feels like I’m applying a good skincare product to my face, adds moisture to the skin, creates a smooth base for applying makeup, contains a ton of natural ingredients, paraben-free, vegan, cruelty-free
Cons: Can only buy this from their website, can flake off if you do not give it enough time to sink into the skin
Repurchase? Though I do really like this primer, I don’t like it enough to pay the $10 shipping to Canada.
Essence Colour Correcting Mattifying Powder
Pros: Sets my makeup well, helps even out my complexion, mattifies the skin, looks natural on the skin, affordable, cruelty-free
Cons: Wish it had a mirror
