Testing Out Revlon Makeup

IMG_2591

For the last month and a bit I have been trying out a bunch of different Revlon makeup, and it has really made me fall back in love with the brand. I feel like I have been using a lot of the same products for months now, so it’s been fun to change things up a bit, especially with it now being fall. And even with the cooler weather, a lot of these products will still be staples in my makeup bag. Here’s why:

Revlon ColorStay Full Cover Foundation in ‘Buff’* I love the mousse-like texture of this foundation, as it feels light and airy, and formula allows it blend easily into the skin. I find using my fingertips works best to apply it, before going in with a sponge. Once on, it wears comfortably throughout the day with zero caking, and it also does not oxidize on my face. It is important to mention that it is marketed as a full coverage foundation, however, it’s definitely more medium coverage, as even after two layers my freckles still show through—which I personally prefer. It also claims to last up to 24 hours, and though I can’t vouch for that long, I can vouch that after a 12 hour shift my foundation still wore great.

L to R – Bronze Beauty, Berry Kiss, Gold Light and Barely Blush

Revlon Insta-Blush Stick in ‘Berry Kiss’* I love how foolproof this cream-to-powder blush is. The stick makes it so easy to apply, as you just swipe it onto you cheeks and blend it out with your fingertips. The pigmentation of this blush is very natural, and it does sheer out when you blend it—which I don’t mind—as it gives just enough of a flush of colour to the cheeks. It is buildable though, so you can apply more in order to intensify the colour. I especially love using this blush stick for more minimal makeup days, and this berry shade is perfect for the fall season.

Revlon PhotoReady Insta-Fix Highlighting Stick in ‘Gold Light’* The golden shade of this highlighter is absolutely stunning, and I have been loving wearing it for the last month and a bit. The formula is super creamy—and like the blush stick—it is so easy to swipe onto the top of my cheekbones and blend out with my fingertips. With my tan slowly fading, this shade is a little too golden for my skin, but I definitely want to pick up the other shade, ‘Pink Light’, for the cooler months. Also, even though I have yet to try Glossier’s beloved Haloscope, I feel like both of these could be dupes for the shades ‘Topaz’ and ‘Quartz’.

Revlon Powder Blush in ‘Bronze Beauty’* Even though it says it’s a blush this is actually the one bronzer in this range, however, it is light enough that it would probably work well as a blush on paler skin tones. It blends well into the skin and I find it has the perfect IMG_2558amount of pigmentation. Though this shade is still a little too light for me at the moment, it will definitely be the perfect bronzer for me for the fall and winter months. It has no shimmer in it, which I prefer when my skin is more pale, as it looks really natural on the skin, and gives my complexion the right amount of warmth.

Revlon Volumazing Mascara* Revlon states this is the “most amazing lash volume” from them yet, and I think they’re right! This has the same brush as the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara, which I also love, as the slight wave to the brush allows it to hug the lashes, coating them from root to tip, and really helps fan them out. My eyes look bigger and better with this mascara, and the formula allows you to easily build it up, and it also does not seem to clump, smudge or flake throughout the day. This mascara is also infused with carnauba wax and olive oil to keep your lashes soft and nourished.

Revlon Kiss Plumping Lip Crème in ‘Barely Blush’* I love my dusty rose shades for the fall, and all I want to wear right now is this lip crème. Like the foundation, this also has a mousse-like texture that feels really soft on the lips. It doesn’t dry down too much—which is why it feels so hydrating and comfortable on the lips—so it does mean it will wear off throughout the day. However, the colour does wear off evenly and the applicator makes it really easy to reapply. Though I wouldn’t say this really plumps my lips, it does have that slight cooling sensation when you first apply it (it goes away quickly), and the formula of this makes my lips look and feel fabulous.
