It’s hard to believe it’s already the end of August, but I’m thrilled that we had a beautiful summer this time in regards to the weather, as last summer we got a lot of rain and chilly days. However, I am definitely ready for September now, and ready to transition into fall aka my favourite season. So, to begin that transition, let’s end August here with a blogpost about my summer favourites!
Essence Prime + Studio HD Hydra Primer Spray I had been wanting to try one of Essence’s sprays for awhile, and as soon as I saw this new one I had to try it. I love anything coconut, and this primer spray is infused with coconut water, which is so soothing and refreshing on the skin. I’ve tried quite a few setting sprays, but this is the first primer spray I have tried, and I absolutely love it. It gives my skin a bit of extra hydration and helps set the skin before you apply makeup. I definitely notice a difference with how much smoother my makeup goes on when I use this and it’s helped keep my makeup in place really well.
Revlon Kiss Balm in ‘Tropical Coconut’ As I mentioned, we have had an incredibly hot summer here, so I haven’t really been wanting to wear anything on my lips other than a lip balm. This is pretty much the only lip balm I’ve reached for all summer, as it’s so lightweight on the lips, it has SPF 20, and it smells like coconut. My lips always feel hydrated wearing this, and I love it so much that I plan on buying all the other scents for next summer.
Fenty Beauty Gloss Balm in ‘Fenty Glow’ When I did want to wear something on my lips that wasn’t just lip balm, this gloss was always my go-to. This lip gloss deserves all the hype surrounding it, as the formula of it is just spot on. The universal, shimmery rose nude shade really does seem to flatter everyone, and the non-sticky, hydrating formula makes this gloss feel so comfortable on your lips. I love the gorgeous packaging and the vanilla scent, but I especially love that it does not melt off your lips in the hot temperature, making it the perfect gloss for this summer.
Revlon Extra Life No Chip Top Coat As much as I love using my Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in ‘Clearly Quick’ as a top coat because it dries my nail polish instantly, it’s thicker consistency does cause my nail polish to chip really quickly. I ended up picking this top coat up from the drugstore and I love how smooth and evenly the thin formula goes on, and the shine that it gives my nail colour. It also dries relatively quickly, and it definitely does give my nails that ‘extra life’. I’ve actually been using it on an Essie colour I have that chips within an hour and it has helped extend the wear time of it really well.
BeautyLash Tinting Kit for Brows & Lashes* I actually have a whole entire blogpost dedicated to this handy kit, which you can read here, but I still had to mention it, as I started using it this summer, and it’s what introduced me to the world of at-home brow and lash tinting and how easy it really is. I was thrilled with how quick and simple it is to do yourself (not to mention cost effective), and I was happy with not only the results, but the fact that it did not irritate my skin or eyes.
Christopher Robin And finally, I have to mention this movie, as the nostalgia hit me really hard, and I was a blubbering mess watching this in the theatre. I watched a lot of Winnie-the-Pooh with my sister when we were little—mostly the featurettes from the 60s, 70s and 80s—as we had quite a few of them on VHS. So, of course, this silly old bear is very near and dear to my heart, and this film felt like it was made for all of the adults, young and old, who watched Winnie-the-Pooh back in the day as kids or with their kids. I really cannot rave about this film enough—Ewan McGregor made a great, adult Christopher Robin, all of the character’s looked great and their voices were spot on (with some even being the original voice actors), and the humour in it was perfect. Really an incredibly charming and heartwarming film that takes you down memory lane and reminds you of the joys in life.
What have you been loving this summer?
