The 5 Product Face

5-product-face-1

I was going through some old blogposts, and stumbled upon this post, which I can’t believe is from 3 years ago! I don’t even know if people still do these kinds of posts, but since I love my minimal makeup I thought I’d bring it back today. I think these posts are a lot of fun to read, as it just shows how little products you need in order to enhance your features and natural beauty. So, here are the products I reached for to create this 5 Product Face:

BareMinerals BareSkin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer in ‘Light’ As much as I use and love my drugstore concealers, I gotta admit, I do really love a good high-end concealer. This one by BareMinerals has a wonderful creamy consistency that feels so lightweight and hydrating on the skin. This stuff covers my dark circles and helps to brighten my under eye area, but it also works great to cover any blemishes too. It also blends easily into the skin and doesn’t cake or crease at all during the day.

Essence Colour Correcting Mattifying Powder Even though I am limiting myself to only 5 products, I still have to use a powder on my combo skin. I love that I can use a concealer to conceal my under eye area and any blemishes, and then go in with this powder to not only set my makeup, but also neutralize any discolouration on the rest of my face. This powder effectively minimizes shine and though the finish is matte, it doesn’t leave my face looking flat.

Letting my freckles shine through.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette This is still one of my favourite eyeshadow palettes, as I love how versatile it is. All 6 shades blend beautifully and wear well throughout the day (though ‘Crave’ does have a bit of fallout). For this look, I used ‘Venus’, ‘W.O.S’, ‘Naked 2’ and ‘Faint’ to create a natural eye and I used ‘Faint’ to also fill in my eyebrows. I also used ‘Venus’ to not only highlight my brow bone and the inner corner of my eyes, but also to highlight my cheekbones and nose.

L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara I’m only just finally trying this mascara out, and as a blogger, I’m well aware I’m very late to the party. However, just from using this mascara a couple of times I can definitely see why everyone raves about it. The wavy brush on this hugs my lashes well and really works to separate the lashes and fan them out. The formula leaves my lashes looking full, but still feeling soft, so I could easily build this up if I wanted a more dramatic eye look. It doesn’t seem to flake or clump, but I would recommend opting for the waterproof version if you have watery eyes.

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in ‘Honey Nectar’ And finally, just like my last 5 Product Face post, I am using another one of these lip balms by Pixi. The creamy formula means these work well not only on the lips, but also on the cheeks as a cream blush. The shade ‘Honey Nectar’ is a dusty rose shade, which is such an easy shade to wear. The formula of these gives you a beautiful wash of colour on both the lips and cheeks and I love how natural it looks. I am so happy Shoppers Drug Mart now carries Pixi, as I need to buy every shade of these lip balms.

What do you think of this look? And what do you think about bringing back some of these old school kind of posts?
