We may still have just over a month of fall left, but I find once the clocks go back it no longer really feels like fall anymore and I’m mentally starting to prepare for winter. That being said, they’re are quite a few things I have been loving this fall season, and I figured why not already share them with you!
Here are my fall favourites for this year:
Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters Exhibition My first favourite has to be this hauntingly wonderful exhibit that opened on my birthday. I am a huge fan of del Toro and this exhibition takes us inside Bleak House, his personal museum and creative nook, which houses the visionary filmmaker’s personal collection of art, artefacts, books and props. There is so much to see and take in and the exhibit wonderfully mimics the many rooms found at Bleak House (the ‘Rain Room’ is absolutely terrific). This exhibit is every horror lovers dream, and one you definitely don’t want to miss. If you haven’t checked it out yet, it’s on until January 7, 2018 at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
Shiseido Synchro Skin Lasting Liquid Foundation* I often mention on my blog that I don’t wear foundation much, but if I were to wear it everyday, this is exactly the kind of formula I would want it to have. This sheer foundation offers buildable coverage and feels so lightweight on the skin, thanks to its water-based formula, which ensures that the product does not crease or look cakey on the skin. It really enhances my complexion and evens everything out, leaving it looking hydrated and completely natural. I have been loving using this for the last month and a bit, and I also have a full review of this foundation, which you can read here.
Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette I have been making an adamant effort of wearing eye shadow more regularly, and this palette has been my weapon of choice. This is a very basic palette, as the name suggests, but it is so perfect for someone trying to get the hang of eye shadow, as the shades are all neutral, easy to work with and blend beautifully. All of the shades in here are matte, aside from ‘Venus’, which is a shimmery demi-matte. I use all of the shades in here, and this palette has helped me feel so much more confident in applying and wearing eye shadow!
China Glaze Nail Polish in ‘Kill the Lights’* My nails have been in a sorry state at the moment, as they keep splitting, breaking, and just not looking their greatest. Usually, I’m reaching for darker shades this time of year, however, when I have decided to paint my nails, this has been the colour I reach for the most. This is a beautiful mauve crème shade that looks so pretty on the nails and I always get compliments while wearing it. It dries fairly quick and I love that I can get this opaque in just 1-2 coats. If you missed my review of the China Glaze Shades of Nude Collection, you can give that a read here.
Clinique Almost Lipstick in ‘Black Honey’ I got this deluxe sample in a Sephora set I redeemed for 500 points and I did not expect to fall in love with it as much as I have. This ‘almost lipstick’ is more reminiscent of a tinted balm, and flatters every skin tone, as it works with the natural tone of your lips, creating a unique and flattering shade. If you’re typically wary of darker lip colours this is an excellent option, as the formula is pretty much foolproof and so easy to apply and wear. You will need to reapply this throughout the day, but it wears down evenly and does not feel drying or sticky on the lips. I will definitely be purchasing the full-size of this, and I am also tempted to get the other shade, which is ‘Pink Honey’.
Grey Ankle Boots (similar here, here and here) Finally, a fashion favourite for this month has been my grey ankle boots from Zara. Grey is by no means a daring colour, but it’s a nice change from the typical black ankle boots we all know and love. And as someone that wears a lot of black, these boots help break up my monochrome uniform a bit. These go with everything and are so easy to style, and has really made me want to purchase another pair of ankle boots in a different colour like white or red.
Also, I had to include this photo that shows the reality of photographing flat lays—any other bloggers have curious fur babies and can relate to this?
What have you been loving throughout fall? I’d love to know!
