When it comes to nail polish, I welcome any and every shade with open arms, as I love that nail polish is a fun way to express yourself. I personally lean towards certain shades depending on the time of year or what holiday it is and sometimes I’ll also choose a shade that reflects my mood.
That being said, however, my go-to shades will always be something in the nude family—they’re a fail-safe option for me, as they go with any outfit and always look classy. And the fact that they’re typically less noticeable when they begin to chip/grow out is even better!
For the past month, I have been loving the shades in the China Glaze Shades of Nude Collection*, as they have—in my opinion—a perfect nude for every person. The collection contains twelve shades that range from everything from a pale almond, to a blush pink, to a deep chocolate brown. And like all China Glaze polishes, these contain China clay, which acts as a nail hardener giving your polish long-lasting wear. China Glaze polishes are also free of the ‘toxic trio’ aka the chemicals toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and formaldehyde, which you should try and avoid when it comes to buying nail polish.
I currently have three of the shades from the China Glaze Shades of Nude Collection*, though I am definitely tempted to purchase the rest of the collection. I love the formula of these polishes, as they apply smooth and evenly and have great shine to them. I also love that I can get at least five days of wear out of them before they start to chip. Here are the three shades that I currently have:
Kill the Lights* is a dreamy mauve crème and I’m absolutely obsessed with this shade—I can’t stop wearing it! It looks so stunning on the nails and it’s an easy shade I can wear all year long. I also love that this is opaque in just 1-2 coats.
Pixilated* is a light beige crème and definitely the kind of colour I think of when I hear the words ‘nude nail polish’, and I can see this taking the place of my beloved Essie Nail Polish in ‘Topless & Barefoot’. Like the previous polish, I can also get this opaque in just 1-2 coats.
It’s a Match* is a peachy nude crème that I have renamed ‘Doll Flesh’, as the shade of this totally reminds me of my Barbie dolls growing up—and I kind of love it. Unlike the first two polishes, which I would wear anytime of year, this one I’d probably only reach for during the spring and summer. Also unlike the first two, this polish needs 2-3 coats in order to be opaque.
As mentioned, there are a total of twelve nail polishes in the China Glaze Shades of Nude Collection*, all of which can be purchased through Nail Polish Canada. If you were wanting to own the entire collection, Nail Polish Canada also sells the entire collection at a discounted price, which you can find here. The polishes retail for $8.45 each and the website offers free Canadian shipping on all orders over $19.
Have you tried any of the shades in this collection? What’s your perfect nude?
