6 Favourites | Summer Edition

First off—you may have noticed my blog has a new look! It was definitely in need of an update and I wanted to give it a more professional look! It still has some areas to tweak, but overall I am really happy with it.

Anyways, seeing as the first day of fall is quickly approaching I figured it was about time I shared some of my favourites throughout the summer months. To be honest, I didn’t try too many new products over the summer, as I was focusing on finishing up things currently in my collection. However, I still have some definite favourites from the last few months to share on here, so here they are!

IMG_7076Illamasqua Matte Veil This product is no stranger on my blog and there’s no hiding how much I adore this product. I’ve had this primer for awhile now and since it’s in a container I figured it was time to use this up before it went off—which slightly broke my heart since it’s pretty pricey. I used this regularly over the summer and it just reiterated for me how good of a primer this is. The cream-gel formula is so silky and wonderful and it feels like I am applying a really expensive skincare product all over my face. Once applied, my skin is completely shine-free and my makeup doesn’t budge all day long.

Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm in ‘Quenched’ I rekindled my love for the Maybelline Baby Lips when I grabbed this for my vacation and it’s pretty much the only lip balm I used all summer. This is such a great basic lip balm—it feels lightweight on the lips, offers hours of hydration and the SPF 20 ensured my lips were always protected. The Baby Lips range has expanded quite a bit, but this original one is still my favourite—it does the job, it smells good and I love the playful blue and pink packaging.

Pixi Glow Tonic A new product I did try this summer was this cult skincare product, which I had been putting off trying because—quite frankly—the words ‘exfoliating toner’ slightly scared me. However, I couldn’t believe how gentle this product was on my skin and how refreshing this felt to apply. This is formulated with 5% glycolic acid, along with other ingredients like aloe vera and ginseng to help exfoliate, brighten and smooth the skin. I was blown away by how visibly smoother my skin looked using this, as it instantly got rid of those annoying little bumps I sometimes get on my skin. I now look forward to applying this every morning and I can confidently say this is totally worth the hype.

Urban Outfitters ‘Emma’ Sunglasses Another thing that I had bought for my vacation, which then became a summer staple, were these oversized sunglasses. I got these from Urban Outfitters as they always delivers when it comes to oversized sunglasses, which is the style I prefer on myself. I’m totally obsessed with the black and tortoise gradient, which gives them a bit of a vintage feel and for the price they are great quality. This style is actually now on sale, but only the ‘rose’ shade is still available online, however, you may be able to still get the shade of mine in-store.

Joe Fresh Short Sleeve Knit Cardigan (similar here) I lived in this cozy Joe Fresh knit pretty much all summer. We had a pretty lousy summer in regards to the weather (a lot of rain and a lot of cooler days), so this was always my go-to sweater to have with me, as it was super cozy, but the fact it’s short-sleeved made it feel less heavy. This became such a wardrobe staple, as I chucked this over everything—from a basic white tee and denim shorts to a floral dress to a striped top and black skinnies. The oatmeal shade of this went with literally everything making it so versatile and easy to wear.

IMG_7074Game of Thrones Season 7 And lastly, I gotta mention the last season of my favourite TV show. Even though they made us wait over a year for just six episodes, it was totally worth the wait. So much happened in those few episodes and they delivered in every sense. Between the Starks being reunited, to Dany and Jon Snow finally meeting, to everything that happened beyond the wall (I won’t spoil anything), my emotions were all over the place. And I swear the visuals and the dialogue in this show just get better and better (Cersei’s speech to Ellaria Sand instantly comes to mind). There’s so many positive things I can say about Game of Thrones, but I must admit I’m crushed that there’s only one more season left and that we have to wait until late 2018/early 2019 for it.

Anything you’ve been loving over the summer? Let me know in the comments!
