July Makeup Shake-Up

I thought it was about time to do another ‘Makeup Shake-Up’ post, as I did my first one in March (which you can read here) and I have since finished 4 of the 6 products mentioned—and as silly as this may sound, I am pretty proud of that!

I decided it was time to delve into my makeup collection once more and select some more products to focus on using up. So, here’s what I have added to my makeup bag for the month of July:

Stila All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer in ‘Kitten Shimmer’ This is a product I have had for awhile now that should probably be used up. However, this is no longer available, which means I won’t be able to repurchase it once I do finish it, which is a shame, as this is such a beautiful product. I love mixing this with my moisturizer during this time of year to give my skin a radiant and luminous glow in just one easy step. I love how seamlessly this blends into the skin and the fact it manages to appear natural, despite the crazy intimidating look of it.

ModelCo Blush in ‘Cosmopolitan’ I received this blush from Ipsy quite awhile ago, and it sort of got lost among my countless other blushes. However, I recently rediscovered it and have quickly fallen back in love with this pigmented blush. This gives me a lovely flush of colour that compliments my skin tone perfectly and wears all day long. I don’t expect to finish this blush anytime soon—as blushes seem to last forever—but I am making the effort to try and hit pan on this by the end of August. I really love this blush and would love to try more by ModelCo.

IMG_5858Pixi by Petra Fairy Dust in ‘Brightening Bare’ Eye shadows usually last me for ages, since I don’t regularly use them, and they are something I will keep way past their expiration date. However, because of the applicator on this (which I apply directly onto my eyelid) I feel like it is more inclined to go off. This beautiful pearlescent nude is great for during the day, but I especially love it for an effortless evening look during the warmer months. Thus, perfect time to make this my go-to eye shadow for right now.

Essence I Love Extreme Volume Mascara Waterproof I am pretty adamant with finishing mascaras and this one by Essence is beginning to dry out, so I am making the effort to use up the last bit of this before it becomes unusable. Usually, I am not a huge fan of mascaras with large wands, but this one really works to give my lashes a ton of volume without clumping and zero smudges or flaking. That, and the fact it is waterproof means I can wear this at the beach or by the pool without any worry.

Chella Eyebrow Defining Gel Another product that I am finicky about keeping for too long are eyebrow gels, and this clear brow gel is starting to turn brown from mixing with my brow powders and thus, should probably be used up. This is a great brow gel that sets my brows in place all day long without making them hard or crispy, but for $18 you can definitely get a brow that performs just as good for half the price from the drugstore.

Essence Liquid Lipstick in ‘Beauty Secret’ I have been reaching for this liquid lipstick quite regularly, as the formula and the pinky mauve shade is so easy to wear for both day and night. It is more of a pigmented gloss than a liquid lipstick, which I like, as it isn’t drying on the lips, but also doesn’t feel too sticky. Lip products with a doe foot applicator always end up going off (the smell is always the tell-tale sign), so I am keeping this in my bag as my go-to lip colour for the summertime in the hopes of being able to use this up.

What products are you currently making an effort to use up?
