10 (More) Products That Should Not Have Been Discontinued

discontinued_collageI did a discontinued products post a couple of years ago that got a lot of attention in terms of views and I really enjoyed putting it together (you can give that a read here). I wanted to do another post like that, but I thought there was no way I would have another 10 products to talk about like the first time. But lo and behold…

I realized I definitely had plenty more to talk/rant about on here. So, here’s 10 more products that should not have been discontinued:

The Body Shop Aloe Vera Lip Treatment This is the most recent product I have realized has been discontinued, and no surprise, it’s from The Body Shop (I joked in the last post how The Body Shop discontinues all of my favourite products). This is so good to use during the warmer months, as the aloe vera in this is soothing and other ingredients, like vitamin E and shea butter, leave your lips moisturized and nourished. It has a thick, glossy consistency, but does not feel heavy or sticky on the lips. No idea why they discontinued this because they don’t sell anything else like it either.

Bath & Body Works Sea Island Cotton Eau de Toilette I am a sucker for clean laundry scents and I really like this one, as the salty notes in it reminds me of summer. Bath & Body Works still sells the Sea Island Cotton range, but they don’t sell the perfume of it anymore. Which is a shame, as the perfume was more concentrated than the body spray and I find the scent does not transfer over as well with the lotions. Plus, it was housed in such a pretty bottle.

Sonia Kashuk Perfecting Vitamin-Rich Primer I was a huge fan of Sonia Kashuk, however, as a Target exclusive brand it meant I could no longer get it after Target left Canada. And I have no idea what is going to happen to the brand, as Sonia Kashuk stepped down as the creative director last year. For now, you can still find the brand at Target, but they have discontinued quite a few products—one being this serum-like primer. It was a little pricey for a drugstore primer (almost $20), but I remember it felt like silk on the skin and really nourished my face and made the perfect base for my makeup.

Sonia Kashuk Liquid Light Concealer Another discontinued Sonia Kashuk product is this concealer, which used to be a holy grail concealer for me. It contained ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and black tea extract and it easily concealed dark circles, lasted all day long without creasing and also brightened the under eye area. I had planned to stock up on this concealer when I was in Cleveland last summer, which was when I found out—with great disappointment—that it had been discontinued.

NARS Blush in ‘Douceur’ This is a product that I actually never got to own, as once I had discovered it it had already been discontinued. I love the formula of NARS blushes and this one was a beautiful soft pink brown that complimented lighter skin tones, helped to sculpt the face and just looked so effortless and natural. For now, the tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in ‘Exposed’  is on my list to try, as it is supposed to be a dupe for this, but I wish NARS would bring this shade back, even if just for a limited time.

The Body Shop Honeymania Bubble Bath Melt Another discontinued product from The Body Shop, and I had no idea this was gone, but sadly it is. This was a favourite of mine, as just a little bit of product created a bunch of bubbles and the bubbles actually lasted instead of disappearing within minutes. I also loved the sweet, floral scent of this, as it was really relaxing and helped me unwind in the evening. It seems like The Body Shop may be discontinuing the entire Honeymania line, but please correct me if I’m wrong.

Pixi by Petra Fairy Dust in ‘Brightening Bare’ This was a product that I did not get on with at first, as I thought the packaging was just weird and wasted a lot of product. However, I have been using this so much recently, as I have grown to love the applicator on this because it makes applying eye shadow, especially on-the-go, a breeze. This shade is a beautiful pearlescent nude that is so easy to wear and brightens the eye area. I wanted to see what other shades were available, however, when I checked online I realized these loose shadows were no longer available.

LUSH Floating Island Bath Melt Alongside the Butterball Bath Bomb, this was my other go-to LUSH bath product, as it smelt amazing, left my skin soft and did not contain any added dyes. This was a blend of vanilla, sandalwood and lemon and the combination was absolutely intoxicating. Like Butterball, this also contained cocoa butter, which left my skin really soft and the large size allowed it to melt slowly in the bath. They do now have a Floating Island Luxury Bath Oil that seems to be its replacement, but I have not tried it yet.

Sephora Bronzed and Blushing Face Palette I was aware this palette was limited-edition, but now that I have hit pan on the bronzer and one of the blushes I am realizing how much I will miss this once I finish it. Even though they were not the most pigmented powders, they were buildable and blended really well. This trio was perfect for traveling, as it also came with a mirror, but the best part was that this palette was really affordable.

The Body Shop Vanilla Brûlée Range Lastly, this wasn’t really discontinued per se, but it was a seasonal scent The Body Shop brought out in 2014 and have not brought back for the holidays since. 2015 there was no vanilla scent for the holidays (Frosted Plum was brought out instead, which I found hugely disappointing) and in 2016 they brought out Vanilla Chai. I actually really did like the Vanilla Chai, but in my opinion, nothing can top the delicious scent of the Vanilla Brûlée range. It was absolutely heavenly and I really hope they bring it back again.

Were any of these products ones you also loved? Let me know in the comments and I’ll offer my condolences.

ellerow.

  1. I honestly feel like my heartbreaks when I find out my favourite product gets discontinued. I have commitment issues with my faves at the best of times, and now this?! Can’t deal with it! I’ve just seen the little box showing your first discontinued post, and I’ve spotted the tea tree oil pads. What else will they take away from us?! x

    1. Hahaha right?! It’s like a bad breakup—you completely fall head over heels in love with a product, are completely loyal to it and then BAM! They just get up and walk out of your life forever. Dramatic, but accurate haha! And those tea tree pads were the best!!
