Today is the fourth and final part of my ‘5 Under $5’ series, and this one is all about makeup. If you missed my last one, which covered bath and body, you can read that here.
This was definitely the easiest out of all the categories, as you can find so many amazing makeup for under $5—but trying to decide what 5 products to talk about for this post was a bit more difficult. However, these are the 5 affordable makeup items I really wanted to share with you today:
e.l.f. Tone Correcting Powder – $3.99
I’ll try to keep this one short and sweet, as I talk about this powder way too much on my blog, but because it is such a great powder and under $5 I had to include it. It sets my makeup so well and helps even out my skin tone by neutralizing any redness. It’s perfect for when I just want to wear minimal makeup, but need something light to help even everything out and I am also never shiny when I wear this.
I have been obsessed with this mascara for the last couple of months now, and it is easily one of the best mascaras I have ever tried. The brush on this is amazing—it separates your lashes and allows the product to go on completely clump-free. It is also easy to apply this on your lower lashes as well. I get so much length and volume from this mascara and it does not smudge or flake whatsoever. Every single time I apply this I am blown away by how amazing it makes my lashes look.
This is still one of the prettiest blushes I have tried from the drugstore and it wears just as good, if not better, than some of my more expensive ones. The colour is a gorgeous peachy pink with subtle shimmer that wears beautifully on the skin. The formula of this blends easily and wears all day long and despite only costing you a few dollars it is really pigmented.
I don’t know why I stopped using Baby Lips, but ever since I repurchased this guy it has been living in my purse. It’s so lightweight on the lips, but offers incredible hydration and is just a great everyday lip balm that also smells really good. You can also wear this under most lip colours, as it creates a smooth and moisturized base. On top of all that, it boosts SPF 20, making it a great option for this time of year.
Lastly, I wanted to include a nail product and of course, I had to go with Sally Hansen. I decided to go with this clear polish in their Insta-Dri range, as it makes a great top coat and is a total dupe for the Illamasqua Nail Top Coat, which will cost you around $17. Like the name suggests, this dries (almost) instantly and gives your nail colour a beautiful shine. I especially love the tapered brush on the Insta-Dri polishes, as it gives you lots of precision.
And there we have it! That concludes my ‘5 Under $5’ series! I hope you enjoyed these posts and found some new and affordable products to try. If you do try any of the products from this series please let me know, as I would love to hear your thoughts!
I’ll probably do more of these kind of posts in the future—especially in regards to makeup—as there are so many more I would love to talk about. So, until then!
