Skincare | 5 Under $5

Starting today, I am kicking off the first of a four part series on here, where I am sharing five of my favourite products that are under $5. This series includes skincare, haircare, bath and body and of course—makeup. Just because a product is under $5 does not necessarily mean it should be overlooked!

Having been both a college and university student, I was constantly on the hunt to discover products that didn’t break the bank, but still delivered in terms of performance. And I found having bloggers and vloggers create content like this was always helpful. So, I hope this series is helpful for you and you end up finding some new, affordable products that you love as much as I do!

As the title would suggest, the first part of this series is skincare, so here are five of my favourites:

Celkin Vitamin Make-up Remover Cleansing Wipes – $4.00

You can easily find great face wipes for under $10, but for under $5? Not as easy. I love these super affordable ones by Celkin, which are infused with Vitamin A and E, green tea and aloe vera, as they easily remove any makeup and also leave my skin feeling clean and nourished. The wipes are super soft, making them very gentle on the skin and every wipe from start to finish is super moist, which is an absolute must. The only negative is that these do contain parabens, but for the price and for how effective they are they are totally worth it.

Swisspers Organic Cotton Rounds – $2.50

I am so picky with cotton rounds, as they are something I will not splurge on, but a lot of the inexpensive ones are just no good, as they are thin and easily tear (nothing worse than trying to remove your eye makeup and getting bits of fluff all in your lashes). These cotton rounds use cotton grown purely on small family-owned organic farms and are certified organic by the ICEA. The organic fibers used in these rounds make them so much more softer than any other I have tried, but they are also thicker and much more durable. I can use these to easily remove any makeup and I can use both sides of just one cotton round to remove all of my nail polish.

Rougier Distilled Witch Hazel – $4.15

I have been using this gentle and natural astringent since my early teens, as it is something my mum always had because it can be used in so many ways. It was, and still is, my go-to for helping heal blemishes, as it helps reduce inflammation and redness and prevents the growth of bacteria. It can also be used as a toner on the skin to help control excess oil without drying your skin out, as it balances the skin’s pH level and works to nourish the skin. And since it is anti-inflammatory it is great for soothing razor burn and also helps reduce the itching and swelling from annoying bug bites.

Still Spa Essentials Grapefruit & Kiwi Self Heating Mask – $2.00

I love these little sachets, as it is a great way to try out different face masks without committing to an entire tube of it and you can usually get two uses out of these. These ones, which you can get from Walmart, are great because they have something for every skin concern. This one uses fruit extract to help reduce oil and it is self heating, which if you haven’t tried a self heating mask before you are missing out. This mask warms up on contact with the skin and it feels absolutely incredible. The warmth helps open up your pores and activates blood circulation, allowing the mask to work more effectively.

Nivea Creme – $2.30

This is such a great multipurpose product and though the full-sized tins are not normally under $5, you can find this mini tin in the travel section for only a couple of dollars. The size of this is perfect for taking on-the-go and a little goes a long way with this. I’ll apply a bit of this on my lips during the day if they are feeling quite dry or apply it more liberally before bed and it leaves my lips feeling nourished and much softer. This also helps eliminate dry skin anywhere on my body and though this is a thick creme it does not clog pores or feel heavy on the skin.

Well, there we have it—the first part of my ‘5 Under $5’ series! Make sure to come back on Thursday for the second part of this series, where I will be talking about 5 awesome hair products for under $5!
