Weather wise, it is not quite yet feeling like summer, but that doesn’t mean I’m not dreaming about the beach, patio drinks and summer clothes.
In terms of summer attire, I have got my eyes on a few things I would like to add to my summer wardrobe. Here are six things on my summer style list:
Palm tree patterns are popping up everywhere from clothing and accessories to homeware and prints. Whatever it’s on, it just feels so summery and I love the fun and playful vibe of it. I also think it’s an easy trend to wear, as the patterns (like the shorts and sleeveless blouse shown below) are subtle, making them easier to style and wear. These pieces also just implement the fact that I need to be on a beach, stat.
Floral prints are something that never really go out of style, but this season I have been seeing floral prints everywhere. Zara especially has so many beautiful floral pieces right now and I have got my eye on quite a few pieces from there. Floral prints are something that I never tire of—whether it is on a dress or trousers or even a pair of flats—I love that it can be dressed up or down and that I will still love it years later.
Steve Madden Block Heels
I’m the girl that so desperately wants to wear heels more and block heels give me that stability and comfort I need in order to rock them more often. Whether paired with a cocktail dress or just jeans and a tee, they are so versatile and I especially love the options Steve Madden has right now. They have different heel heights depending on what you are after and along with your basics, like black and tan, they also offer ones in brighter colours and ones with little added touches (I am especially lusting over the powder blue ones below).
I always love dark green—it’s one of my favourite colours, especially in regards to clothing, as it brings out the red in my hair, which I love. I recently bought a dark green tee from the men’s section at H&M and it just reiterated my love for this shade. Now it’s all I want to wear and I would love to add some dressier dark green pieces to my wardrobe.
Canvas Tote Bags
I have been wanting a durable canvas tote bag for ages and I think it is about time I get one for the summertime. They are so good to have for taking on-the-go whether you are heading to the beach for the day or running some errands—and the graphics/slogans on them serve as a form of self-expression. I know not everyone would think canvas tote bags are trendy, but I just love the effortless and laid back look of them.
Front Cutout Swimsuits
A couple of years ago I would not have been caught dead in a one-piece swimsuit, but they have become increasingly popular over the last year and I have fallen in love with the variety of styles there are for women of all shapes and sizes. I especially love the ones with the front cutout, as it gives the illusion of a bikini, but there’s just something about this style that makes it more sexy. The fuller bottoms give you a bit more coverage, whilst the high cut feels more 80s and shows off a ton more skin and helps elongate the legs.
