Today was my best friend’s bridal shower and it was so nice to celebrate the beautiful bride and shower her with gifts. And since I spent my morning getting all dolled up for it, I decided to share some of the beauty products that made an appearance in today’s makeup look.
This makeup menu focuses mostly on the eye look I went with, as two of the products used I have never talked about before on the blog, whilst the other is a product I had completely forgotten about. Anyways, here’s some of the makeup that was on the menu for today:
Sonia Kashuk Eye Shadow Duo in ‘Leather & Lace’ I had totally forgotten about this eye shadow duo, until I was digging through my makeup the other day and was drawn once again to the subtle purple/grey hue of these. The shades here are not super pigmented, so you do have to build it up quite a bit and the lighter shade I find is a little chalky, which reminded me why I have not reached for this in so long. However, I really do like the darker shade and it blends easily making this a great product for someone just getting into eye shadow.
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in ‘Jet Black’ This liner seemed to be everyone’s holy grail liquid liner before the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner came along and yet I still had never gotten around to trying it—until now. I love how much precision you get with the nib on this, as it gives you so much control, allowing you to make perfect thin strokes. It also makes doing winged liner an absolute breeze, which is what I went with for today. It dries quick too and once it is dry it does not budge—really loving this.
Too Faced Better Than False Lashes Mascara This is a three step lash extension product that I got in a Sephora Favourites kit forever ago and I am just finally testing it out now. The mascara acts as a base for the nylon fibers, which you apply after to add thickness and length to your lashes. You then follow with another coat of mascara to lock everything in. I find the nylon fibers do not really add a dramatic amount of thickness or length that I can be bothered with the extra step and I much prefer just using the mascara on its own. I also find if I apply this mascara on my bottom lashes it causes my top and bottom lashes to stick together until the mascara has dried. This product is now called Better Than False Lashes Extreme, so I don’t know if the formula has changed and it is better now.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in ‘Ethereal Light’ To set my base makeup, I reached for this gorgeous and much loved finishing powder of mine. Not only does it set makeup wonderfully and give a healthy glow to your face, but it also filters out harsh light and works to capture, diffuse and soften the look of the skin. It just gives your complexion this wonderful softness and works to illuminate the skin in such an effortless way.
The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder To add some warmth and dimension to my face, I am back using this bronzer. This product is so easy to work with, as it blends beautifully and this shade works so well with my skin tone. It does not leave my complexion looking muddy whatsoever and instead leaves me looking naturally sun kissed and glowing. Plus, because it is matte it means you can also easily contour with this bronzer as well.
Essence Lipliner in ‘In the Nude’ and Essence Longlasting Lipstick in ‘Nude Love’ On the lips, I stuck with a trusty nude shade. This lip liner is so incredible for the price, as the formula makes it so easy to line your lips with zero tugging or pulling. I absolutely love this lipstick—it is a bit paler than the liner and I do not know how to describe the shade other than just calling it a ‘true nude’. It does need reapplying throughout the day, but with the lip liner the colour does not bleed and it does not feel too drying on the lips.
I hope you all had a great weekend! What was on your makeup menu for today?
