I decided to join the rest of the beauty community and share with you some of my favourite products from 2016. I have discovered some stand out products this year, which are almost too good not to share, so I rounded them all together to share with you in this post. Most have made appearances in previous posts, but it’s nice to show them again and reiterate just how much I loved them over the past year. Enjoy!
joeSCRUB Coffee Scrub One of my favourite discoveries this year has definitely been this product. I swear by face and body scrubs, but I am also super picky with them, and this one does not disappoint in the least. With only 9 ingredients this product seriously transformed my skin. Fair trade organic coffee grinds are (of course) the main star—exfoliating the skin whilst also increasing blood circulation and helping detoxify the body. Added oils, such as coconut and almond, all work together to nourish the skin. My skin has never looked smoother, softer or firmer than when I use this product.
Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-Wrinkle Replenishing Pearls* I have really been enjoying using this serum, as not only does it feel great on the skin and work well under makeup, but I have also noticed some positive changes in my skin. I won’t go into too much detail, as I have a full blogpost for this coming up soon, but the high concentration of energy coenzyme Q10, along with hyaluronic acid and creatine, really does help to give me an overall smoother complexion.
Aromic Citrusy Nighttime Face Oil* This product specifically made me realize how amazing face oils are. I was always wary of applying an oil before bed to my combination skin, but it has seriously improved the overall appearance of my skin. With only 10 ingredients it really helps to soften and smooth the skin, as well as minimize breakouts and control oil with ingredients such as jojoba, argan and orange oil. This product sinks quickly into the skin and every morning I wake up looking more rejuvenated.
Tutu Magical Lip Mask* When I need instant relief for my lips, whether they are dry and chapped or just feeling really dehydrated, this has been an absolute saviour. It applies like a serum more than a mask or a balm and sinks into the lips immediately and feels so incredibly soothing. As an overnight product, I prefer something more intense, but for throughout the day when my lips need a quick fix, this has been a great option.
bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream in ‘Vanilla’ After hearing so many good things about this product I had to give it a go, finally purchasing it towards the end of 2015 and it being my go-to base throughout 2016. I personally do not like heavy foundations, so this has been the perfect option just to help even out my skintone and if I want a more medium coverage I can build it up with another layer. It leaves me with a natural, dewy radiance and feels lightweight on the skin and wears great throughout the day. Totally worth the price.
Vasanti Wonders of the World Concealer* I feel like I have been talking about this concealer nonstop, so naturally it was going to make this list. Vasanti Cosmetics as a whole was an amazing discovery for me this year, but this concealer is definitely the standout product. This product has a built in primer, which meant this concealer easily lasted all day without creasing or wearing off. It easily concealed the discolouration under my eyes, as well as concealing any redness on the rest of my face. I will definitely be repurchasing this as soon as I run out.
by nanda Three Color Blush in ’01’* When I received this blush I was a little intimidated to try it in fear it would look really unnatural on the skin. However, all three shades work beautifully to give your cheeks an illuminated flush of colour with just enough shimmer. It gives just the right amount of pigmentation too, making it pretty foolproof to apply and you can build it up more to intensify the colour. It’s been my go-to blush for the past month and a bit and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
Essence Contour Powder I tried a few new products by Essence this year that I have loved, but my favourite has definitely been this guy. I love that I can easily contour and highlight my features with this, as it blends easily and looks natural on my skin. Though the contour powder itself does not come close to higher end contour products, it is a great, affordable option for someone who wants to try out contouring. The highlight is really amazing, as it’s subtle in the fact that you really can’t go overboard with it and instead it just perfectly highlights your features.
MAC Lipstick in ‘Jubilee’ This was definitely my most reached for lipstick of 2016 even surpassing my beloved NARS Lipstick in ‘Dolce Vita’. Whenever I didn’t know what lip colour to wear I almost always reached for this beigey-pink nude. It’s such a versatile shade to just throw in your bag and apply on the go. The lustre formula feels hydrating on the lips and its creamy consistency makes it much more comfortable to wear than your typical lipstick.
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in ‘Clearly Quick’ And lastly, I have to include this topcoat that slightly rekindled my love for painting my nails (I say slightly because I will never truly love painting my nails). I love Sally Hansen as a whole and their Insta-Dri range really is great. This product dries fast, setting your polish and giving it extra shine and keeps my nails chip-free for a few days. I also love the brush on the Insta-Dri polishes, as they really allow for easy precision and distribute the product evenly.
