Last-Minute Affordable Gift Guide

Inspired by the amount of people I have talked to in the last few days that have said they barely started or haven’t started their Christmas shopping, this is for you!

I was actually on the ball this year and got a lot of my Christmas shopping done early (thank you Black Friday sales) and the last couple of weeks I have just needed to grab mostly smaller things like chocolate and gift cards.

However, I decided to whip this up for anyone who needs to grab a last second gift and maybe needs a little help. Everything shown is $20 and under and I have narrowed it down to five stores that I think are excellent to find great, affordable gifts for the whole family.

Fox Figural Mug (on sale), Small Heart Stud Pouch, Q & A A Day and Set of 4 Gold Feather Lowball Glasses (on sale)

I swear I could do all my Christmas shopping at Chapters alone and easily find a gift for everyone on my list. Along with its vast array of books, it has an amazing home section, great style pieces and the most beautiful stationary. They also sell a ton of fun and quirky little bits that are usually near the cash, which make great stocking stuffers. Their products cover every price point, so there’s something for every person’s budget.

Like Chapters is known for their books, HMV is known for music, as well as their selection of DVD and Blu-ray. However, they also sell a ton of nerdy merchandise ranging from mugs and drinking glasses to gadgets and socks. They also sell the Pop Vinyls, which I am obsessed with and I think they make an amazing gift (though if you are looking for a specific one I would suggest checking EB Games or Hot Topic as they have a much bigger selection).

Hudson’s Bay

This department store can definitely be overwhelming, especially if you are at one of the bigger flagship stores, however it is full of great, affordable finds and they almost always have incredible deals on. I much prefer shopping on the Hudson’s Bay website, as I find it less stressful, but most of their stores are strategically laid out to help you find what you are looking for with relative ease. Again, this is a store I could easily find a gift for everyone on my list.

Mini Hemp Hand and Nail Gift Set, Vanilla Chai Treat BoxFestive Bath Fizzers and Fuji Green Tea Beauty Bag (all are on offer)

The Body Shop

I love The Body Shop anytime of the year, but during the holidays they come out with a bunch of great gift sets that are not only affordable, but almost always go on offer or sale as well. You could grab someone a set with their favourite scent or grab one of their seasonal holidays scents (I love the Vanilla Chai). It’s also a great place to get your guy some pamper items that he doesn’t typically buy himself. Along with their men’s line, the Tea Tree and Hemp products are also winners with the male crowd.

Lastly, I had to include one of my favourite clothing retailers. I have shopped at H&M for years and it is always my go-to place when I need an affordable article of clothing. However, they have also now expanded their range with amazing beauty and homeware lines making it chock full of great finds (In Canada these are at their bigger, flagship stores). And like true H&M fashion their beauty and homeware products are all affordably priced and with the current trends.

I hope this last-minute, affordable gift guide was a little bit helpful to anyone that needed some last-minute ideas/inspiration, but doesn’t want to have to travel to a million different places to try and find things.

Remember at the end of the day it’s about spending time with your loved ones and enjoying each other’s company over the holidays. And any gift is a thoughtful gesture, no matter how big or small.

To whoever is reading this—I hope you have a safe and happy holiday season! Cheers!
