Makeup that Looks Good in Pictures

Yesterday was a bit of a ‘pinch me’ moment because I got my grad photos done. I can’t believe this fall semester is almost done, and come January I will only have one more semester left of my undergrad to go—crazy!

Since I was being photographed, I obviously wanted to look as picture perfect as possible for these photos. So, I went through my makeup stash and selected specific products that I know not only look great in photos, but also last.

Illamasqua Matte Veil The biggest stress was having my makeup look just as good from the moment I left my house until I got to my campus. Without question this is the one primer I know I can rely on for this situation. I know I mention this product quite a lot on here, but it really creates the perfect base for applying makeup and really helps to keep it in place and keep me shine-free.

Vasanti Wonders of the World Concealer* This concealer duo is a serious must for anyone that struggles with discolouration around the eye area like myself. This product easily counteracts that problem with its full coverage formula. It doesn’t crease or cake under the eye and also makes an excellent concealer for covering any pesky blemishes (I got a lovely one by my nose a couple days before thanks to that time of the month).

This product has just been repackaged, but you can still get 30% OFF of it, along with your entire online purchase using the code muacentralbabes30. No minimum required and the code is good until December 1, 2016.

NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder This is the powder I always reach for when I know I am being photographed. I’ll use another powder first to set everything and then follow up with a light dusting of this light reflecting product. This magical powder makes your skin look luminous and really does optimize light reflection on the skin without leaving you looking shimmery.

Essence Contour Powder I want to avoid my face looking flat, so to help me define my features I love a good contour and highlight to add dimension to my face and to highlight certain areas. This contour and highlighter duo is a great affordable option, as both powders look beautiful on the skin and blend really well. Both products are subtle, which I like, but naturally and effortlessly enhance my features.

Maybelline Line Stiletto Ultimate Precision Liquid Eyeliner I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the best at applying eye shadow, and if I know I am being photographed I’ll almost always skip it. I find eye shadow can make my prominent/protruding eye shape look even more prominent/protruding, which I do not want. So, liquid liner becomes my best friend here. It adds definition to my eyes and makes my lashes look fuller and liquid liner shows up better in photos than a pencil. This one by Maybelline is one of my favourites.

Essence I Love Extreme Volume Mascara Waterproof Essence continues to impress me with their high-performing, affordable products and this mascara is no exception. It really does give my lashes a ton of volume, which is noticeable in photos and helps me look much more awake. And even though the waterproof formula is drying and not the easiest to remove, the formula means I don’t have to worry about any smudges or flaking, which I do not want in my grad photos.

Add a good foundation, a strong brow and a neutral lip and I am good to be photographed!

What products do you reach for and rely on when you know you’re being photographed? I’d love to know! And happy Thanksgiving to any of my American readers!

I love my Giorgio Armani foundation for photo’s, it makes my skin look flawless and I always look a lot less washed out when I’m wearing it (I mean i’m the palest and whitest in every photo I get in anyway haha) xx
