It’s hard to believe it’s already September and with the sun setting earlier and the cooler temperatures, fall seems to be right around the corner. So, I figured it was about time I shared my 6 summer favourites with you!
Hawaiian Tropic Products
This summer a definite favourite has been Hawaiian Tropic’s sunscreens. We have had some seriously hot days and their products ensured my skin was always protected without clogging my pores and not breaking me out like a lot of sunscreens do. The Sheer Touch Ultra Radiance Lotion Sunscreen in the travel size was perfect to always have in my everyday bag, while the Sheer Touch Ultra Radiance Clear Spray Sunscreen was perfect for the beach where I tend to get lazy with reapplying sunscreen. The Silk Hydration Face Lotion kept my face and neck protected all day long and worked well under makeup. I am still on the hunt for a good natural sunscreen, but until I find it I’ll stick with Hawaiian Tropic.
Fuss-Free Lip Products
Last summer I was obsessed with my corals and bright pinks, but with this summer’s heat I almost always reached for a tinted balm or just a straight up lip balm. For the first half of the summer I was really enjoying the e.l.f. Gotta Glow Lip Tint in ‘Perfect Pink’, which reacts with the chemistry of your lips to give you your perfect flush of pink colour. Then for the second half of summer I was constantly reaching for the Liplicious Pearl Glass Brightening Lip Gloss Overcoat (no longer available, sorry), which was an old favourite I rediscovered. It gives your lips the prettiest sheen without being sticky or drying.
Never before would I even think about using a face oil in the summertime, but this summer nighttime face oils have played a huge role in helping control the oil on my face whilst nourishing my skin and helping give me an overall better complexion. The Aromic Citrusy Nighttime Face Oil* really helped to nourish my skin and help minimize breakouts while the Josie Maran 100 Percent Pure Argan Oil was perfect for traveling and weekends away, as I could apply it to both my face and the ends of my hair and wake up with smoother skin and tresses.
I have always loved stripes, but this year especially I have become particularly smitten with them. Stripes are just such an effortless option—you can throw on a striped tee with a pair of jeans or pair a striped dress with a cute pair of flats and you’re guaranteed to look put together even if you barely gave it a second thought. I would say 90% of the time when I didn’t know what to wear I reached for a striped piece of clothing. I wore to death the H&M one pictured as it was so easy to dress up or down.
Of course, I gotta mention Pokémon Go which took the world by storm in July. I pretty much lived and breathed this game for the first few weeks after its release in Canada. The novelty has since worn off, but I still play it regularly as I’m no quitter—I wanna catch ’em all! I was a huge Pokémon fan growing up—I was obsessed with Pokémon Red, watched the tv show, collected the cards (which I still have) and I still remember the excitement of going to see the first Pokémon movie in theatres. So, needless to say Pokémon will always have a special place in my heart and this game totally brings out my inner child. I’m currently level 21 and Team Mystic, how about you?
And my last favourite for the summer has definitely been camping. My boyfriend and I both went camping a lot growing up, but we both hadn’t been in years. We were lucky to be able to do two camping trips this summer—we went to Algonquin Provincial Park end of June and had a beautiful campsite backing onto Kearney Lake. We recently just got back from Killbear Provincial Park where we had an equally beautiful campsite that had this insane rock backdrop and was steps from Georgian Bay. The outdoors does wonders for my allergies and anxiety and escaping the city with your best friend is just so much fun. I have a lot of really great photos from both of our camping trips which I might share in a blogpost here—I haven’t decided yet!
What have you been loving this summer? I would love to know!
