Last weekend, my boyfriend and I took a little road trip to Cleveland to see the Toronto Blue Jays play the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field. We also squeezed in a little sightseeing as well—however, that’s all for a separate blogpost I will hopefully have up by the end of the week. Today, I wanted to share what I packed in my travel makeup bag for Cleveland.
I have done this kind of post twice before for my trip to New York City and Cancun. For those two I posted before I went away, but I didn’t have the time to do that for this one. So, I figured I would share it afterwards and let you know what I used, what I didn’t use and what I would of packed instead. Here we go!
The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur 5-Action Perfector – This primer is so good if you are looking for something that is going to extend the wearability of your makeup. It effortlessly smoothes over any imperfections and leaves you with the perfect base before applying makeup and really helps with reducing the appearance of pores.
bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream in ‘Vanilla’ – This product is a great lightweight option for summer, as not only does it even out my skin tone and leave it looking much more radiant, it also offers SPF 35 so I know my face will be protected all day long.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in ‘Light Neutral’ – I didn’t want to worry about my concealer creasing or wearing off at all this weekend, so this was a no fail choice. I did have a couple annoying blemishes though, so I do wish I packed a thicker concealer to apply on those spots.
Essence All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder – With my base done, I wanted a translucent powder just to set everything in place and this inexpensive powder does the job every time. It’s not too mattifying, but controls the oil on my face and helps my makeup stay in place no problem.
The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder – I have been wearing this natural looking bronzer pretty much all summer, so obviously it was coming this weekend with me. It warms up my complexion and just gives my face so much more dimension—even without contouring.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette – I have not used this palette in what feels like forever, so I was eager to bring it with me. If I’m flying I leave my Hourglass powders at home because they are pretty delicate, but since we were driving I knew this baby would be safe. Combined with the bareMinerals cream my skin had this beautiful lit from within glow to it.
Eyes & Brows
Illamasqua Eyebrow Cake in ‘Motto’ – I’m still digging the bolder brows, so I brought this little guy. The powder is the perfect consistency—not too hard and not too soft—and is so pigmented and stays in place all day.
Chella Eyebrow Defining Gel – Even though the Illamasqua product doesn’t even need any setting I still like using a gel. This one is clear and just ensures every brow hair does not budge.
Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather in ‘Creamy Beige’ – I packed a few eye options for the weekend and used this cream shadow on our full day Sunday. I love blending this all over the lid and then smudging it along my lower lash line as it is just such an effortless look and really helps to bring out the blue in my eyes.
The Body Shop Eye Colour Matte in ’05’ – I also packed this in case I wanted to use a powder shadow over a cream, but I didn’t end up reaching for this. Regardless, it is a beautiful chocolatey bronze shade that looks great any time of year.
Maybelline Line Stiletto Ultimate Precision Liquid Eyeliner – I decided last second to bring a liquid liner and I’m happy I did as it is exactly what I wanted for our last day there. I used it just to line my upper lash line—no winged liner or anything—just to give my lashes even more volume.
Essence I Love Extreme Volume Mascara Waterproof – My eyes are always so watery and irritated that I decided I needed a waterproof option when it comes to mascara. I have been using this one for the last couple of weeks and love that this gives my lashes a ton of volume without any clumping and that it doesn’t smudge or bleed on me. The large brush does makes it a little hard to use on the lower lashes, so I do wish I packed a second mascara for my lower lashes.
Softlips Maxilip Anti-Aging Lip Moisturizer – I always pack a few lip options and a good balm is always at the top of my list. I raved about this product in this blogpost and I am still loving it and reaching for it regularly. I just love how lightweight it feels on the lips whilst still being incredibly nourishing and moisturizing. It is also a great base before applying other lip products.
tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in ‘Romantic’ – I actually didn’t end up using this product as I was just not feeling lip colour this weekend. If I was though, this would of been the perfect option as it is easy to apply, non-drying, applies evenly and gives your lips the perfect pop of colour.
Liplicious Pearl Glass Brightening Lip Gloss Overcoat – What I did end up reaching for a lot was this gloss. I bought this ages ago from Bath and Body Works and unfortunately, I don’t think you can get it anymore—which is a shame—as it is one of my favourite lip glosses. It gives your lips the prettiest sheen whether worn alone or overtop to enhance another lip colour. It’s not sticky and surprisingly hydrating plus, it smells and tastes like cake batter, so my boyfriend especially loved this.
I ended up packing the perfect amount of makeup for this little getaway and my makeup lasted all day long with minimal touchups.
I’ll be sure to share some photos from Cleveland on here soon!
