This post was supposed to go up awhile ago, but I was really unhappy with the photos. I am by no means a photographer and my photos are far from professional, but the photos just did not turn out, so I decided to wait until I had a free day with better natural light to retake them. Which was annoying as I had already cut open one of the products to finish, which I wait to do after I have photographed them for aesthetic reasons. We can look past that though, right?
Anyways, enough rambling—here’s what I have used up over the last couple of months!
Haircare
Mane ‘n Tail Deep Moisturizing Conditioner
Pros: Smells good, adds shine to hair, helps repair damage
Cons: Did not find this to be much of a ‘deep conditioner’ as it claims
Repurchase? Unlikely.
Live Clean Exotic Silk Keratin Oil Thermal Protective Spray
Pros: Smells amazing, protects hair from heat, can use on damp or dry hair, fast drying, smoothes frizz and adds shine, afforadable, no nasty ingredients, cruelty-free alternative to the Tresemme heat protectants
Cons: Nozzle doesn’t spray as evenly as I wish it would, can be hard to find in-store
Repurchase? I did.
Boo Bamboo Anti-Humidity Hair Spray
Pros: Smells great, does not weigh down hair or make it sticky or crispy, holds hairstyle, protects against humidity, cruelty-free, paraben and DEA free, eco-friendly, all natural and organic ingredients
Cons: Nozzle sometimes gets clogged with product
Repurchase? Already did!
Skincare
L’Oreal Sublime Gentle Micellar Solution
Pros: Easily removes makeup, gentle, suitable for sensitive skin, non-irritating
Cons: Feels like it has a more soapy consistency, sat weird on my skin
Repurchase? No. I decided to give this a go because it was on sale, but I much prefer the Simple Cleansing Water or Bioderma.
Michael Todd Beauty Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub
Pros: Gentle yet effective, non-irritating, leaves skin feeling softer, detoxifying, 70% organic, no nasty ingredients or synthetic fragrance, cruelty-free
Cons: Can only get it online, not a huge fan of the scent
Repurchase? Probably not, as I have found a new face scrub that I much prefer.
Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask
Pros: Really works to help draw out impurities, clarifying, detoxifying, skin looks instantly healthier, works for all skin types
Cons: Pricey, can be a little messy
Repurchase? Yes!
Pros: Moisturizing, sinks quickly into the skin, no nasty ingredients, cruelty-free
Cons: Felt like it just did nothing for my eye area, hard to find and hard to control how much product comes out of this
Repurchase? No. However, I still want to try more products by this brand.
The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Serum (Discontinued)
Pros: Helped smooth out my skin in regards to bumps, firms the skin, hydrates, one pump generously covers my whole face
Cons: This product seems to disappear and reappear, but right now it seems to be (sadly) gone
Repurchase? 100% if it decides to make a reappearance…
Bath & Body
Freeman Apple Cider Vinegar 4-in-1 Foaming Clay
Pros: 4-in-1 mask, scrub, cleanser and toner, smells like apples, leaves skin feeling clean and soft, cruelty-free, paraben-free
Cons: Didn’t really do much in terms of exfoliating my skin, lid broke on me, messy consistency
Repurchase? No, as I bought this as a scrub which is where it mainly lets down.
Makeup
Pros: Affordable, cruelty-free, good coverage, doesn’t settle into fine lines, lasts all day
Cons: Only comes in 3 shades, lightest shade is too dark for me sans a tan, contains paraffins
Repurchase? I would and I did!
Chella Eyebrow Color Pencil in ‘Tantalizing Taupe’
Pros: Easy to use, the fine nib gives plenty of control and precision, gives me fuller brows, looks natural, lasts all day, colour is perfect for my brows
Cons: Can only get this online, find I go through this product so fast
Repurchase? Yes.
Pros: Gives me fuller, longer lashes all day long, can built it up for a more dramatic look, brush easily gets every lash from root to tip, does not flake
Cons: Pricey, can smudge, no good once it starts to dry out
Repurchase? Yes, this is one of my favourite mascaras!
