3 Treats to Add to Your Nighttime Skincare Routine

IMG_8377

When it comes to my nighttime skincare routine, I like to keep it to a minimum when it comes to the amount of products I use. I know some people like to use everything but the kitchen sink, but for me I stand by the ‘less is more’ mantra and I personally just do not think it is good to have a bunch of products competing on my skin.

That being said, I like having a few options when it comes to applying a nighttime treatment depending what my skin concerns are—whether that’s a serum or an oil or a cream I don’t discriminate and love all three equally. Today, I am sharing three of my favourite products to apply before bed.

The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Serum

This serum has been a longtime favourite of mine to apply both morning and night. It really helps to improve the skins texture and elasticity, as well as smooth out any imperfections. Babassu oil is the main star in the Nutriganics line and it is totally an underrated product when it comes to oils. It’s very similar in properties to coconut oil, but without the heavy, oily feeling coconut oil can leave on the skin. I still do not know if this product has been discontinued or not, as it tends to disappear and then reappear in stores and online. It is currently not on The Body Shop’s website, which makes me sad, as I just ran out of this amazing serum.

Aromic Citrusy Nighttime Face Oil*

This is a new product I have been putting to the test for the last month and I have really fallen in love with it—I especially love that it only has ten ingredients. I also really enjoy how lightweight it feels on the skin, despite being an oil. It sinks fairly quickly into the skin and in the morning my skin instantly feels smoother, softer and more nourished thanks to ingredients like jojoba, argan and evening primrose oil. I have also noticed I have had fewer breakouts thanks to the lemon and orange oil in this product. The orange oil is the dominant fragrance in here—which I adore—as the scent instantly relaxes me which is perfect before bed (orange oil is proven to alleviate anxiety, anger and depression). Aromic All-Natural Skincare is a newer company that strives to create 100% natural and non-toxic, cruelty-free, vegan products. And they are a local, Canadian company!

Origins High-Potency Night-A-Mins Oil-Free Renewal Cream

This rich, luxurious cream is an absolute treat to apply and in my opinion is worth the price tag attached to it. It is good for all skin types and helps with dullness, uneven texture, dryness and fine lines and wrinkles thanks to a skincare cocktail of vitamins C, E and H, chestnut extract, wheat germ, jojoba butter, rosemary and orange—just to name a few. This cream has really helped with the dullness in my skin and in the morning my skin looks instantly, healthier, smoother and much more hydrated. I don’t tend to use this product too much in the summertime, but come winter it is my go-to skin saviour.
