Today, I am sharing 6 products that did not deliver in regards to performance. Though I don’t like writing negative blogposts, I do think it is important to be honest when it comes to my opinions on products and when something just does not work. That being said, just because a product doesn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. Heck, some of these products I am sharing are by some of my favourite brands. However, there’s always going to be products that just don’t work for us, as we all have different needs and concerns in regards to our skin, hair, life, the works.
Here’s 6 products that left me less than impressed:
This brand has been on my list to try for ages and I am happy to report that it definitely has helped thicken my thin hair and make it look much fuller, which I am thrilled about. That aside, this stuff gives me dandruff! I only ever dealt with bad dandruff once, but have had no issues with dandruff for years until I used this product. And I know for sure it is from this, as I have switched to a different shampoo and the dandruff is completely gone. I don’t know if it’s one of the ingredients in this or if my hair just has a hard time washing this out, but thicker hair is just not worth it if it means I have to have noticeable dandruff.
** I realize I have both the shampoo and conditioner pictured, however, it is just the shampoo causing the dandruff. I have been using the conditioner with a different shampoo and have had no dandruff whatsoever.
If you can tell, when it comes to my hair I am all about products that will give me thicker hair and more volume. It definitely helps me get volume, however, I do not like how this feels in my hair as it makes my roots so gritty. And not the good gritty that I get with a sea salt spray, gritty as in I feel like I need to wash my hair after using this. The smell of this is also horrible and makes my hair smell dirty and again, unwashed. I’ll just stick with dry shampoo, thanks.
This is a product that I was enjoying using when I first got it in the summertime, but for the last few months it has just not been performing the same. It applies evenly and blends into the skin no problem at first, but later in the day it is no longer sitting right on my skin. It starts to become all noticeably splotchy and broken up and it also seems to be easily disrupted by powder. I am thinking maybe because my skin is more dry and dehydrated at the moment that that could be the reason.
This is a product that I purchased thinking it was probably gimmicky, but since I am a sucker for anything that promises volume, I decided to give this a go. This product was such a mess to work with and the fibers got everywhere, including in my eyes which was not pleasant. I also did not notice any huge difference in regards to volume with my lashes. I said I was still going to play around with this since talking about it back in this post, but I honestly have not reached for it once. To me, it is just is not worth the trouble of going through and is just an extra step I cannot be bothered with.
A product I have tried playing around with numerous times and am still unhappy with is this brow product by Maybelline. There is nothing wrong with the formula of this, but it’s the sculpting ball brush on it that I am not a fan of at all. It is so awkward to use and way too large for my brows. The brush also does not pick up the product well for me, as it all seems to collect at the tip. Overall, the brush on this is just a major dud.
Over a year ago I was trying out different natural deodorants, as the aluminum found in antiperspirants are so bad for our bodies. I wanted to do a whole blogpost on natural deodorants (maybe one day), but it was a short lived experience as I had enough of feeling like I constantly smelt. Green Beaver is a fantastic company, but this deodorant was by far the least effective out of the ones I tried. I felt like I might as well have just not applied deodorant. As soon as I perspired a teeny tiny bit I felt like I smelt and on top of that I felt like this intensified my body odour. The only plus is that it is completely invisible, but I would rather have a deodorant mark on my shirt than reek of body odour.
Have you tried any of these products? What products have not worked out for you?
