Seeing as fall is my favourite season, it seemed only fair to dedicate an entire post to my ‘Fall Favourites & Essentials’. Usually, I narrow down my six favourites for each season, but I have too much love to share for my favourite season and thus, a ton of things to mention. So, let’s go!
I have turned in my colourful nail polishes and am now embracing the darker nails. On my nails I have been reaching for one of two colours. The first is Essie Nail Polish in ‘Angora Cardi’ which I borrowed from my mum and is a gorgeous deep rose purple. Under certain lights it looks more rose and others more purple and I just think it’s such a unique shade and I love it. More recently, I have been wearing Essie Nail Polish in ‘Wicked’ which is a dark vampy red and the perfect colour leading up to Halloween.
I use bronzer all year round, but whereas I use it in the summer so my face matches the rest of my body, in the fall it is to help give my face more life. I have been loving The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder, which I had bought for the summertime, but once I had a bit of a tan it ended up being to light for me. Now it is perfect for my skin and gives it a natural, healthy glow. I have mentioned now enough times on here that I have been loving coloured eyeliner for the fall and have been wearing my Sephora 12-Hour Wear Waterproof Eyeliner in ‘Go for a Ride’ a ton. The dark green makes it incredibly easy to wear day or night and I find it compliments my eye colour really well. Another one is the Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner in ‘Perfect Navy’ which is a beautiful creamy, dark blue. During the day I usually stick with just lip balm, but if I want some colour I have been obsessed with the Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Collection by Kate in ’45’. Dark lips are just personally not for me, so once the warm weather is gone I switch from corals to nudes.
When it comes to skincare during this time of year it’s all about hydration, hydration, hydration. My lips and hands specifically get really dry and crack so I need something really strong to specifically apply before bed. The Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask is the perfect thick mask to nourish my lips over night and Weleda Skin Food Cream is the perfect sidekick to slather on my hands. In the morning both my lips and hands are noticeably softer. Though my skin type isn’t dry, I feel like the life gets sucked right out of my skin during this time of year leaving it looking and feeling extremely dull. The Michael Todd Pumpkin Nutrient-Rich Facial Mask is excellent as not only is it fall-appropriate, it helps remove dead skin and leaves your face with a healthier glow. I also take a lot more baths during this time of year to unwind or warm up after being in the cold all day. One of my favourite things to add to the bath is the LUSH Floating Island Bath Melt. It does not have any crazy dyes or glitters in it like a lot of LUSH products so it does not irritate my skin. Instead it leaves my skin feeling soft thanks to cocoa butter and almond oil and the smell is so relaxing with a blend of vanilla, sandalwood and lemon.
This time of year calls for a ton of cozy nights in with a film, tea and your favourite candle. I have been burning the Yankee Candle Pure Radiance Crackling Emberlight which smells like a bonfire and I love that the scent does not get too overpowering. It has one of the crackling wicks, which you can’t really hear unless it’s completely quiet, but it’s a nice added touch.
For years I have avoided jeans opting for black trousers or leggings instead. I have fallen in love with jeans again and my daily uniform this season has been jeans, ankle boots and a loose knit. The one shown is from H&M and I love that it is loose, but not oversized and that it is a bit longer in the back than the front. I also got it in the white, which has black thread throughout it as they are such easy sweaters to dress up or down and at only $17.99 you cannot beat the price. I can’t seem to find these on the website, but I know they are newer and still in-store.
Food & Beverage
I am an avid tea drinker no matter the time of year, but I definitely consume a lot more during the fall and winter. I have actually cut back on caffeine significantly (about once a week) so I have been exploring more my caffeine-free options. In the morning I have been drinking the Stash Vanilla Nut Creme Decaf Tea which I add a bit of almond milk to and I totally feel like I am having a caffeinated beverage. In the evening I have been a little obsessed with the Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride Herbal Tea which I feel like I have been on the hunt for for years. I highly recommend adding a bit of honey to this as it really helps bring out the sugar cookie flavour. Lastly, I wouldn’t say this is an essential like the Celestial tea, but I have been searching for the Dandies Pumpkin Marshmallows all season and finally found them stocked at Whole Foods. Other than pumpkin pie, I’m actually not too keen on the pumpkin spice trend, but these vegan marshmallows are the exception. The only problem? Trying to decide what to make with these and not just inhale the entire bag.
