Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians! I hope your long weekend has been filled with lots of stuffing, pumpkin pie and perhaps an alcoholic beverage or two. To everyone else I hope you had a great weekend and happy Monday! Believe it or not, I had not made a Sephora purchase since April, meaning I was very well-behaved this summer. However, September I treated myself to some new products which is what I am sharing here today.
Some new treats:
I hemmed and hawed between this palette and the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette, but ultimately went with the Anastasia one as the contour shades seemed to compliment my skin tone better. This palette comes with 6 removable shades; 3 for highlighting and 3 for contouring. 5 of the shades are matte, while the shade ‘Sand’ is a shimmery highlight. I’ll probably use the other 2 highlight shades as setting powders specifically for under the eye to highlight. I love that the pans are removable and that you can purchase refills for this. I do wish this had a mirror, but otherwise I think this is perfect.
This is the first high-end concealer I have ever purchased. I love my drugstore concealers, but decided to finally try a high-end one to see how it compares. I was going to purchase the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, but this one seemed better for my oily/combination skin. So far I really like how this concealer wears and the applicator is perfect for distributing just enough product. It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, doesn’t settle into any fine lines and stayed in place all day. I can’t say it surpasses all my drugstore concealers in comparison, but I do really like it so far. I went with the shade ‘Light Neutral’.
I’m that person that is rushing to get ready in the morning and have to dig through all my bags to find my powder. I decided to purchase a separate powder to always keep in my bag specifically for on the go touch ups. This product is formulated with sea minerals and cold-pressed grapeseed oil and also offers sun protection with SPF 15. This powder promises to reduce shine and the appearance of imperfections and leave your skin with an airbrushed finish. I haven’t tried much by bareMinerals, but my skin gets on really well with mineral makeup, so I’m sure we will get along just fine.
My lips have been so dry lately and since the weather here is only going to get colder and drier, I decided to finally treat myself to this all natural lip mask. With ingredients like organic agave nectar, jojoba oil and vanilla, this stuff feels incredibly nourishing on the lips and also smells subtly sweet—nothing too overpowering which I like. It is very thick meaning I won’t use it during the day, but it is the perfect product to apply before bed to really let it work its magic. I have only tried this a couple of times, but so far I am really enjoying it.
If you saw this post, then you know I’ve had my eye on these last two products. As soon as I got the email that this blush was back in stock on the Sephora website, I jumped on it. It’s been sold out everywhere which I think just made me lust over it more. Everything about this product is absolutely adorable—from the heart compact that reminds me of Polly Pocket to the woodland imprint that reminds me of something out of a fairytale. The shade ‘Baby Love’ is a beautiful soft dusty nude with very subtle sparkle. The formula of these blushes are rich in pigment and claim to be long-wearing. The only downside? I feel like it’s too pretty to use!
Lastly, a gorgeous dark green eyeliner. I love the Sephora eyeliners and for the price I think they are an absolute bargain. Like the other Sephora eyeliners this one also has a silky formula and applies extremely pigmented with little pressure. It promises to stay smudge free for up to 12 hours and I think this is a very accurate claim especially coming from someone like myself who has super watery eyes. This eyeliner is a very dark green making it perfect for someone who wants to explore coloured eyeliner, but doesn’t want anything too obvious. I’ve already worn this few times and I’m a little obsessed.
September also seemed to be the month of free minis and deluxe samples, which is perfectly fine in my book. I received my free birthday gift from Sephora which was the NARS Satin Lip Pencil in ‘Rikugien’ (an easy to wear rose pink) and the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in ‘Cruella’ (a scarlet red that’s already much loved in the beauty world). I also redeemed 100 points for the Benefit Roller Lash, which I like, but I still prefer the Benefit They’re Real! Mascara. I redeemed another 100 points for the Givenchy Le Rouge-À-Porter Lipstick in ‘Rose Aristocrate’ which is such a pretty sheer pink. When I purchased my contour palette they had a gift with purchase on so, I also received the Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Pencil in ‘Base 1’ which I was surprised to realize was the full-sized product. This multitasking pencil acts as a highlighter, concealer and primer in one, making it perfect to take for traveling. And lastly, online I used a code to receive a free 3 piece set by Hourglass which included a deluxe sample of their Veil Mineral Primer (which I have wanted to try for ages), a mini of their Film Noir Mascara and a mini Femme Rouge Lipstick in ‘Icon’ (a classic red). Whew, that was a lot to list.
Have you tried any of these products? What do you think of them?
