Back to School Drugstore Makeup Look

Today is officially ‘back to school’ for most students and though that is a dreaded phrase for a lot of students, I am actually so excited to go back to University. I love being back on a routine, I adore my campus and I really do love what I am studying. Though I don’t go back to school until the 14th, today I wanted to share an easy peasy makeup look using all drugstore products.

Some of these products in this look are my absolute favourite and I think this is a great, everyday look for students of all ages—whether you are entering your first year of high school or your last year of University. To find out what I used to create this affordable look, carry on reading!

If I want my makeup to last all day long, I always apply a primer and I love the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. I love how this product minimizes the appearance of pores and leaves my skin silky soft and smooth giving me the perfect base before applying makeup. I have mentioned that I’m not big on foundation and I especially think it’s a bit too much for everyday wear. I much prefer applying a BB cream all over if I want more coverage, but for this look I’m sticking with two concealers. First, an oldie but a goodie, Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer in Fair/Light around my eye area, my chin and a bit on my forehead. Not only does this conceal any discolouration, it also acts as a highlighter to help perk up dull skin, making you look less fatigued. To conceal any spots I used Physicians Formula Conceal RX Physicians Strength Concealer in ‘Fair Light’, which has been an absolute lifesaver. The thicker consistency easily covers any blemishes and this stuff does not budge at all.

To set everything, I used the Essence All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder which is amazing for setting your makeup and minimizing any shine. It also looks incredibly natural on the skin. To add a flush of colour to my cheeks, my favourite drugstore blush at the moment is the Essence Silky Touch Blush in ‘Autumn Peach’. This is a gorgeous peachy pink shade with subtle shimmer, wears beautifully and you can’t beat the price at $3.49.

Eyes & Brows

To fill in my brows I used my trusty Milani Brow Fix Kit in ‘Medium’, which is so easy to use and the powder has amazing staying power and no fall out. I also took a bit of the highlighter in this kit and applied it to my brow bone to help me look more awake. To fill in the front of my brows and to also set everything in place I used my Maybelline Eyestudio Brow Drama in ‘Blonde’. This is a great brow product, but I’m still not a huge fan of the brush on this.

I really can’t be bothered with eye shadow during the day, but I’ll usually apply a bit of eyeliner to help my lashes look fuller. The Maybelline Line Stiletto Ultimate Precision Liquid Eyeliner is amazing and easily comparable to some high-end liquid liners. Follow that up with a couple coats of the NYX Doll Eye Mascara in Waterproof to both my top and bottom lashes (see my full review of this mascara here). As always, I lined my waterline with my Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in ‘Nude’ to counteract any redness and to make my eyes look bigger and brighter.

To finish off this look, I applied a bit of NYX Butter Lip Balm in ‘Ladyfingers’. Most days I’ll just stick with chapstick, but if I want a bit of colour, I love a tinted lip balm. These ones by NYX are super pigmented, smell delicious and feel buttery soft on the lips.

To all of you who went back to school today, I hope you had a great first day back! Let me know what you think of this look and these products!
