It is very fitting that my first blog post for the month of September is another ‘Product Empties’. I have probably mentioned this before, but September always feels more like a new year to me than January. I always feel like it’s a fresh start and I love the transition from summer to fall. With that transition, also comes switching out products and using up old ones. So, it feels good to be doing this post!
Here’s the products I have used up over the last couple of months:
Haircare
COLAB Extreme Volume Dry Shampoo in ‘New York’
Pros: Smells amazing, absorbs any excess oil, minimal white residue, gives my hair really good volume and texture
Cons: Contains talc, can only find this scent at some Winners and Marshalls
Repurchase? Yes. I think this might be my favourite scent in the line.
Palmer’s Coconut Oil Strong Roots Spray
Pros: Helps with hair growth, stimulates the scalp, conditions the scalp and hair, strengthens the roots, relieves any itchiness and tightness, free of parabens and sulfates, cruelty-free, affordable
Cons: Nozzle sometimes gets stuck
Repurchase? Already have—this is a holy grail product for me.
Skincare
Pros: Effectively exfoliates dry skin on my lips leaving them soft and smooth, smells and tastes exactly like bubblegum, cruelty-free, vegan
Cons: Can be a bit messy to use, would prefer it without the dyes
Repurchase? Yes.
Simple Cleansing Micellar Water
Pros: Easily and gently removes dirt, oil and makeup, does not irritate my skin or eyes, affordable, free of parabens, artificial fragrance and dyes, comparable to Bioderma
Cons: Would love this to come in a larger size
Repurchase? Already have.
Pros: Extremely refreshing, perks up skin, water stays cold in the can, soothes and calms any redness and irritation, great for soothing a burn
Cons: Expensive
Repurchase? Yes, I am smitten with this stuff.
The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Serum (discontinued)
Pros: Helped smooth out my skin in regards to bumps, firms the skin, hydrates, one pump generously covers my whole face
Cons: Has been discontinued!
Repurchase? If I could, I would… *shakes fist*
Bath & Body
The Body Shop Vanilla Brûlée Shower Gel (limited-edition)
Pros: Smells incredible, lathers up extremely well, little goes a long way, soap-free (does not strip skin), skin feels soft
Cons: Limited-edition scent which is no longer available at the moment
Repurchase? If they bring this scent back (which I really, really hope they do)—absolutely!
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Body Lotion
Pros: Evens skin tone, paraben-free, cruelty-free, inexpensive, smells like hot chocolate, dry skin is nonexistent for me with this product
Cons: I feel like the price keeps going up on this—otherwise nothing!
Repurchase? Already have and always will!
Makeup
Sonia Kashuk Liquid Light Concealer
Pros: Easy to apply, blends well, long lasting, brightens the under eye well, cruelty-free
Cons: Only comes in two shades, can only get it at Target
Repurchase? If I could still purchase it here in Canada…100%.
Sonia Kashuk Undetectable Pressed Powder
Pros: Affordable, sets makeup really well, controls oil, cruelty-free
Cons: Contains parabens and talc, can only get it at Target
Repurchase? Same answer as the concealer…
Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Pressed Powder
Pros: Natural coverage, sets makeup and controls oil, felt like my skin could still breathe wearing this, ingredients are 100% natural origin, free of harsh chemicals, synthetic preservatives, fragrance and colours, parabens and GMOs, cruelty-free
Cons: Horrible packaging, annoying to take on the go, not a fan of the scent of this
Repurchase? Unsure. Yes, if they repackage it.
Fragrance
Victoria’s Secret Love Spell Fragrance Mist
Pros: Smells fantastic (blend of cherry blossom and peach), non-irritating, scent lingers quite awhile
Cons: Nozzle sometimes gets stuck
Repurchase? Probably not. This body spray smells amazing, but it just reminds me too much of high school. I would definitely try another one of their scents though!

I have the vanilla bruleé body butter and body polish! I never knew the scent was limited edition. Feel quite special having some now hehe. But the scent is amazing and very long lasting 🙂 I am going to write a post on it very soon so be on the lookout for that! I have lots to say about it plus more body shop products 🙂
I also really love the Victoria’s Secret Secret Craving fragrance mist. It is a sweet scent. Give it a go as you may want to replace your mist with it 🙂 x
