Summer Lip Products

I have been loving a variety of lip products so far this summer, which I think are worth sharing. Some of these are old favourites and some are newer discoveries, but all are amazing products. I usually have at least two of these products on me at all times. So, whether you are looking for a good lip primer, a moisturizing balm, subtle colour or a statement lip—I got you covered with these 8 products!IMG_6665

L to R – Cantaloupe, Lodhi, Romantic, Pixi Pink and Copper Penny

Palmer’s Original Ultra Moisturizing Lip Balm

I bought this when I was in New York and it is an amazing everyday lip balm for the summer. I am a huge fan of the Palmer’s brand, as everything I have tried by them lives up to its claims. This lip balm is similar in formula to the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Body Lotion which I have been using for years—it offers all day moisture thanks to cocoa butter and vitamin E, has a buttery soft formula and is excellent for soothing the skin after sun exposure. This lip balm also protects your lips with SPF 15. If you do decide to bring this product to the beach, make sure you keep it in your cooler as it will melt (I learned from this mistake and it was a disaster).

The Body Shop Aloe Vera Lip Treatment

As a nighttime lip balm, I have been loving this one from The Body Shop. It is a thick gel formula that feels incredibly soothing on the lips and leaves my lips feeling really soft and smooth. Formulated with Community Fair Trade organic aloe vera from Guatemala, makes this perfect for applying after a day out in the sun. This product is chalk full of ingredients such as Community Trade sesame oil, shea butter, organic beeswax, oat kernel oil and vitamin E. It is a sticky lip product, which is why I prefer applying it before bed, but this is definitely worth trying if you suffer form dry, sensitive lips. It also smells delicious!

Pixi by Petra Shea Butter Lip Balm in ‘Pixi Pink’

I bought this lip balm after reading this post by Estée from Essie Button and I wish I grabbed more shades when Target was still here (does anywhere else in Canada sell Pixi? PLEASE let me know!). This tinted lip balm is extremely pigmented and also super moisturizing thanks to shea butter and vitamin E. The formula is smooth and applies evenly to the lips. I love the packaging of these and they also smell like vanilla. This shade is a bright, vivid pink which can easily be worn during the day or built up for a night out when you want colour, but don’t want to fuss with lipstick.

Michael Todd True Organics Tinted Lip Protector in ‘Copper Penny’

I mentioned this product last summer when I first started my blog and I am still loving it this summer. This is such a unique shade and I especially love it with minimal makeup and bronzed skin. This cruelty-free, tinted balm is 82% organic, provides SPF 18 and is free of parabens, sulfates, artificial dye and fragrance. It contains peppermint oil so if you have really dry, sensitive lips this may not work for you. Also, as with most natural lip products I have tried, I find the product is really hard, so you have to warm it up to your lips. However, it stays solid in the heat and is formulated with organic extra virgin olive oil and beeswax to keep lips soft and hydrated.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in ‘Ozone’

I have mentioned this product numerous times, so I will keep this short and sweet. This is an amazing lip primer for the summer, as it is clear—making it universal—so you are able to pair it with any lip colour. It creates a smooth base for your lip products by filling in any fine lines and it helps with the longevity, as well as preventing your lip product from feathering. I am really impressed with this stuff.

Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in ‘Romantic’

Unfortunately, this was a shade exclusive to the Tarte Bon Voyage Collector’s Set which was limited-edition (you can find my full review for this set here), but the whole line of these moisturizing lip stains are fantastic. I love that I can apply this for a sheer wash of colour or build it up more to intensify the colour. The natural LipSurgence technology increases the hydration of the product, so your lips stay moisturized. As with all tarte products, these lip tints are cruelty-free and free of parabens, sulfates and phthalates. I love this shade as it is a really pretty coral—if you were wanting a shade similar to this one, ‘Elite’ seems like a good option from the line.

NARS Satin Lip Pencil in ‘Lodhi’

Of course, I had to mention this creamy, pigmented NARS pencil (sorry if you are sick of seeing it, but I really am enjoying it). This is in a gorgeous coral aka my perfect summer shade. I love how this applies and how long it lasts on my lips. It also does not dry out my lips and keeps them moisturized with pomegranate fruit extract and vitamin E. The satin lip pencils also contain collagen and hyaluronic acid which helps lips look fuller and lock in moisture.

Avon Beyond Color Plumping Lip Color in ‘Cantaloupe’

This lipstick actually used to belong to my sister, but she didn’t use it, so I decided to give it a try. Avon has always been hit and miss for me, but these lipsticks are so good. I love the creamy matte formula of this muted orange shade and it applies evenly and is long lasting. It plumps the lips with collagen (which I definitely notice) and it also contains retinol which helps with the appearance of fine lines. This lipstick also offers SPF 15. Really though, the shade of this lipstick is the ultimate winner for me—I love how it looks when it is applied.

What are your favourite lip products for the summertime?
