There’s no hiding that I’m a makeup junkie, but I have my limits. I like to treat myself here and there, whether it’s a new lipstick from the drugstore or a blush I have had my eye on for months at Sephora. However, as a student and someone who has…you know…life expenses, I have a budget, so I know when I can and when I can’t splurge on something new.
Today, as a fun little post I have my Top 10 – Luxury Beauty Wish List to share. Some of these products I know I could never bring myself to purchase, while others there’s a gleam of hope they could one day be in my collection (specifically when Sephora has their VIB sales).
My Luxury Beauty Wish List includes:
1. Dior Addict Lip Glow in ‘Pink’ – $37.00
I have wanted to try this product for ages and keep trying to justify purchasing this every time I visit Sephora. This moisturizing sheer lip balm enhances your natural lip colour, meaning it is the perfect shade for all skin tones. It says it is formulated with colour reviver technology, which is said to create the perfect shade based on the chemistry in your lips. No idea how that works, but they definitely have my attention. Oh, and it also contains SPF 10 to give your lips some sun protection.
2. Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow – $80.00
I feel like I can’t do this kind of post without mentioning this cult product. I have been wanting to try something from the gorgeous makeup artist’s line for some time and—FYI fellow Canadians—apparently Holt Renfrew now sells her line. The bronzer contains both pearl and pigment making it perfect for both contouring and warming up the skin. Then there’s the lovely golden based highlighter that contains Light Flex Technology that claims to help capture the light to give you that flawless luminous glow. I have the Tarte Park Ave Princess Contour Palette, which I think is a great alternative to this palette, plus it is half the price and you also get a blush in it. Still, I would love to try this product by Charlotte Tilbury one day.
3. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer – $60.00
When it come to primers, I have tried ones ranging from $10.00 upwards to around $50.00—and I have come to the conclusion that there’s some affordable primers on the market that are equally as good as ones triple in price. I’m more curious than anything to see if this one by Hourglass is worth the steep price tag, as I have read mixed reviews on it. This primer claims to minimize shine and pores, evenly distribute light and says it keeps makeup fresh without disappearing throughout the day. It is mineral-based, water-resistant, contains SPF 15 and is free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, fragrance and oil.
4. Chanel Lumière D’été Illuminating Powder – $76.00
This product by Chanel is new and limited-edition for the Summer and let’s be real, at $76.00 there’s no way in hell I’m purchasing this. If I had an endless supply of money this would definitely be in my collection, but for now, a girl can dream. This powder is a stunning luminous bronze shade that is perfect for highlighting your features and giving your skin a beautiful golden glow. The powder is in the shape of a camellia, making it almost too pretty to actually use. Seriously, I think if I owned this I would cry the first time I swirled my brush into its perfection.
5. Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask – $30.00
Though Bite Beauty is obviously a high-end brand, I don’t know if you would consider it ‘luxury’. However, shelling out $30.00 for a lip product I would apply before bed—it’s definitely a luxury item for me. This thick, natural lip mask promises to nourish, smooth and replenish the moisture in your lips. With ingredients such as organic agave nectar, jojoba oil and resveratrol—which is said to contain the same amount of antioxidants as 15 glasses of red wine—I’m drunk in love with this stuff. This product has been raved about everywhere, and though the packaging seems to be its downfall, I’m all for a lip product that contains no weird ingredients, additives or preservatives.
6. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in ‘Vanilla’ – $35.00
When it comes to high-end products, concealer and powder is something I don’t splurge on. I just can’t justify spending a lot of money on products that I use on a daily basis and need to repurchase every month. If I were to spend the money though on one face product it would definitely be this concealer by NARS. This stuff seems to do it all—from concealing imperfections, fine lines and dark circles, it also claims to hydrate, firm, reduce redness and strengthen the skin thanks to a blend of multi active botanicals. It claims to not crease, blend easily and last all day long and is also free of parabens, sulfates and phthalates. Though I think it would be too creamy for me for under the eye, I know this stuff would be perfect for camouflaging any redness around my nose and on my chin as well as concealing blemishes.
7. NARS Dual-Intensity Blush in ‘Frenzy’ – $52.00
Ever since NARS released these blushes last year I have been eyeing them non-stop. These silky blushes can be applied dry or wet depending if you want a more natural or high-intensity flush of colour. ‘Frenzy’ is this absolutely gorgeous shimmering duo, with a soft pink-gold highlighter on the left and a bright tangerine orange on the right. Each duo is supposed to compliment each other, so whether you want to apply both of them separately or swirl them together, the choice is there. Tati from GlamLifeGuru did a Hot or Not video on these if you want to see a more in-depth review here.
This massive bronzer is definitely on my list of things to treat myself to in the near future. For the price and size, I actually think this is quite a reasonable price for a luxury product. It’s oil-free meaning that it will help keep my combo skin shine-free. Add in the massive mirror and I’m pretty much sold. In all seriousness though, it looks like an amazing, natural everyday bronzer—Victoria from Inthefrow has been wearing it a lot lately and it looks perfect for warming up the skin without leaving you a lovely shade of orange.
I may or may not want this lipstick solely for the packaging. Seriously, how stunning is this luxurious gold packaging? These lipsticks are infused with fruit extract such as pomegranate, to keep your lips soft and nourished, as well as rosemary which helps in reducing the appearance of fine lines. Mineral pigments help keep your lip colour vibrant and hyaluronic acid helps lock in moisture. They have a stunning array of colours, however ‘Coral Intuitive’ which is a beautiful smokey soft coral, is definitely my pick if I were to splurge on one of these babies.
10. Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in ‘Moonlight’ – $34.00
Last, but not least, on my Luxury Beauty Wish List, are these creamy eyeshadow sticks by Laura Mercier. These highly pigmented shadows are supposed to be long-wearing, transfer-proof, crease-resistant and blend seamlessly. The shade ‘Moonlight’ is a beautiful metallic champagne beige colour and seems perfect for everyday. These seem like they could be similar to the By Terry Ombre Blackstar which are almost $10 more, making these a much more desirable option for a luxury eye shadow.
Let me know if you have tried any of these products and if you would recommend them! What’s on your Luxury Beauty Wish List?
