I am the type of person who has to make lists for everything I do or else I will not stick to them. This not only applies to groceries, but also fashion and beauty. I decided to share 10 things that are on my list for the Spring and Summer. Just looking at this collage makes me excited for warm weather, tanned skin and patio dates.
Here are 10 items I currently have my eye on:
Like most people, I do not like wearing a bathing suit. I love the beach and swimming and all that jazz, but wearing a bikini feels like a punishment sometimes. I have hemmed and hawed about getting a high-waisted bathing suit for years and I think I’m finally going to get one. I’m pretty petite on top, but I have a curvier bottom half, so I think this would be a much more forgiving option (especially in black aka my safe colour). It would make my stubby legs look longer, hide the dreaded lower belly ‘pudge’ and emphasis my small waist. This one also has a cute back on it. Another one I’m looking at is this American Apparel one, as I love the mesh sides. I think either of these bottoms would look super cute with this black and white striped bandeau which would help give my small chest a much needed boost (I feel weird talking about my body, so I’m going to stop here).
2. NARS Satin Lip Pencil in ‘Lodhi’ – $31.00
I have lusted over this lip pencil by NARS ever since I saw the adorable Suzie from Hello October wearing it in this video. I am a sucker for coral shades, as I think they suit my skin tone more than pink shades and this one is the perfect muted coral. I have swatched this countless times in Sephora and the satin lip pencils are so creamy and pigmented. I have banned myself from buying any new lip products until I have used up some of the ones I have so, once I have done so, I will definitely be adding this one to my collection. This shade to me is the perfect Spring and Summer colour and I know I will be reaching for it whenever I have a night out.
3. Kate Spade Sailor’s Knot Studs – $48.00
I have started to realize it is much more worthwhile to invest in decent jewelry instead of always purchasing costume jewelry. On a day to day basis I would say I gravitate towards my real silver and gold jewelry, as I don’t have to worry about tarnishing or it leaving my skin a lovely shade of green. I definitely prefer gold over silver, especially with a tan, but I don’t own a pair of real gold studs. I love Kate Spade’s earrings and especially love these sailor knot ones. They’re not too big making them easy to wear everyday and I love anything with a nautical theme (perfect for this time of year).
4. Boohoo Vicci Stripe Shift Dress – $30.00
I have been on the hunt for a striped tshirt dress and I think this is the one. I have a couple dresses from Boohoo and I love the thickness of the fabric and the way both fit, so I think this one would be a good option. I can see myself chucking this on regularly as it goes with so many things and can be dressed up or down. I could wear this during the day with a pair of canvas shoes and a slouchy cardigan or dress it up with a pair of boots or ballet flats and a statement necklace. Pretty much I need this dress—it is the epitome of effortless chic.
5. Hunter Original Chelsea Boots – $125.00
I have wanted a pair of Hunter rain boots for awhile, but have not wanted to shell out the money on, well, rain boots. However, these are something definitely worth investing in, especially with some of the rain we have been having here. There’s nothing worse than when you’re wearing cheap boots that leave your socks soaked and your feet chilled to the bone. It is always worthwhile to have a pair of waterproof shoes—when I finally purchased a pair of Sorels it changed my winter game. I’ve been eyeing the Chelsea boot version as I think they would be easier to wear out and style and the price point is a bit cheaper than the original boot.
6. Call It Spring Moari Sandals – $39.99
When I first saw these shoes they right away reminded me of the sandal I had to wear as a kid when I broke my leg aka I thought they were repulsive. Now, they are slowly growing on me as an alternative to flip flops. I have a love/hate relationship with flip flops—love because of the convenience especially at the beach—hate because they often give me blisters and if my feet are sweating in the heat I find them particularly uncomfortable to wear. I have seen quite a few bloggers pair these sandals really well and pull them off and now I think I am converted.
7. MATT & NAT Blinkin Crossbody Bag – $125.00
If I had endless money to spend my closet would be filled with MATT & NAT bags. Their whole line is definitely my style as their bags are all timeless and classic, not to mention absolutely gorgeous. If you are not familiar with the brand, they are from Montreal and live by the motto ‘live beautifully’. All their products are vegan and their linings are only made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. I have a wallet by them and it is so incredibly well made. I have had it for years and despite stuffing it beyond capacity the zipper is still fine and it has no tears or any problems. I have wanted to treat myself to one of their bags for awhile and the Blinkin bag is lovely (and unfortunately sold out at the moment). I think I would go with the classic black, but they do do some gorgeous muted colours as well. For $125.00 it’s not inexpensive, but for a ‘higher end’ bag and the quality it’s an incredibly reasonable price.
I had a sample of this self tanner for ages and had been hesitant to try it as I was worried it would be a complete mess. I finally gave it a go in December for my work Christmas party and was thrilled with the results. It gave me great, natural colour, did not transfer onto my clothes and smelt like vanilla chai. This stuff is free of parabens, sulfates and phthalates and contains maracuja oil, vitamin E and sunflower seed oil leaving your skin soft and moisturized. Since the warmer weather is approaching I’ll want to show some skin without fear of blinding people with my pale legs. I confidently know this stuff will do the job until I have a tan going. I’m not sure if I’ll purchase the full size or the 1.7 oz size which is a more reasonable $16.00.
9. Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector – $22.00
Another lip product Suzie from Hello October has sold me on. The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors have been raved about for ages and on my list to try, but with the newer lip balms released I’m now leaning towards these. I love a tinted balm for everyday and these look absolutely perfect for the Spring and Summer. They contain mango butter and shea butter to keep your lips hydrated and claim to leave your lips looking plumped and contoured (not sure how that works, but I dig it). I’m undecided on a specific colour yet, but I think I’m leaning towards either ‘Rose’ or ‘My Pink’. These also smell delicious, which is always good in my books.
10. Joe Fresh Print Soft Short – $29.00
I recently was out with my mum and we passed by Joe Fresh at our Superstore. She held up these shorts and said how ‘me’ she thought these were and now I can’t stop thinking about them. I adore the floral pattern and colour scheme and I love the loose fit of these. However, these shorts look absolutely horrid online because they’re worn really low on the model. So, I would probably go a size down so I can wear these high-waisted. I have so many pieces already in my closet to wear with these shorts, so it is inevitable they will be mine in the (very) near future.
Are any of these items on your Spring/Summer shopping list? What do you have your eye on?
