Today, I bring you a rare ‘outfit of the day’ post. I really want to start doing more OOTD posts on my blog, but either end up getting discouraged or just not having enough time before I need to be out the door. I usually get my brother to help me with these kinds of pictures, but as we run on different schedules, he isn’t always around. I love photographing products, but photographing myself is always awkward; especially outfit photos. Long story short, these pictures are not the best in regards to lighting, but hey, it’s all a learning process, right?
My best friend and I were both off this past Friday aka the first day of spring and we decided to spend the day together which involved booking tattoos (April 10th cannot come soon enough), lunch and some retail therapy. Since I had the extra time in the morning I decided why not share my outfit and makeup for the day!
Top – H&M
Jacket – BDG
Infinity Scarf – H&M
Bag – H&M
Bottoms – Joe Fresh
Jewelry – Vintage
The first day of spring meant I was not going near my heavier jackets and instead dug out my beloved vegan leather jacket. For the rest of my outfit I gravitated towards my usual uniform: black skinnies, cozy sweater, scarf and my favourite structured tote bag. I got this sweater at H&M this past fall and I love everything about it. I love the boxy fit, I love the pattern and I love how soft the lining of it is. For footwear I went with my black Chelsea boots—which aren’t pictured—as they are extremely beaten up.
For makeup I went with some favourites, both new and old. I actual just finished this primer (sob) which makes my makeup last all day long and also makes my skin feel incredibly soft. The concealer palette is perfect, as it has everything I need to create a flawless base and the yellow concealer is amazing for counteracting dark circles. I have mentioned this tinted brow gel in a few posts now and with good reason—it is my favourite for when I just want a natural brow.
These NARS products are some of my favourites: a light dusting of the setting powder gives my skin an amazing glow and is particularly great if you are being photographed, the blush is extremely pigmented and ‘Dolce Vita’ is one of my all time favourite lipsticks.
Moving onto eyes, if you haven’t tried these Sephora pencils you need to do so, as they really live up to their ‘long lasting’ name. The mascara is great for creating a false lash look and I have been using it for years and the bottom lash mascara makes applying mascara to my lower lashes a breeze. I had been wanting to try this MAC paint pot for ages and finally caved and so far I am loving it on its own, as well as a base for eye shadow. I am also loving the Chella highlighter I got in this month’s ipsy bag, as it looks so natural and I love the creamy consistency of it.
This makeup look lasted all day for me (other than having to reapply the lipstick) and the outfit felt put together whilst still being comfortable. If anyone reading this has any tips on how they photograph their outfits, please let me know!
