It seems to have become a tradition that every Christmas I treat myself to something from Sephora. Last year was the Sephora Favorites – Superstars Set and this year I went with the Tarte Bon Voyage Collector’s Set, as I’ve been wanting to try more tarte products and this set contained so much for the price. Inspired by vintage Parisian glamour, this set contains all the products you need to create the perfect natural look, which is right up my alley. For C$71.00 you get C$508 worth of product (not sure how that math works out or breaks down per product, but that is a ridiculous amount of savings). I had been eyeing this set since it came out, and ended up snatching it up when Sephora had a 20% off deal for VIB and VIB Rouge members – score! What’s included in the set:
20 full-sized Amazonian clay eye shadows
Deluxe lights, camera, lashes 4-1 mascara
Limited-edition deluxe cheek stain in ‘Muse’
LipSurgence lip tint in ‘Romantic’
LipSurgence lip gloss in ‘Visionary’
Deluxe Maracuja Oil
Deluxe smooth operator Amazonian clay finishing powder
Limited-edition collector’s travel bag
Top Row: L to R – Palace of Versaille, Moulin Rouge, I think I Cannes, My own Côtes du Rhône and Boudoir Noir
Second Row: L to R – Fall in Louvre, Provence upon a time, Eiffel for you, Too Haute to Handle and Bastille in the Night
Third Row: L to R – Chantilly Lace, Merci you later, No Champagne, No Gain, Take on Bordeaux and French Riviera
Bottom Row: L to R – C’est la vie, Marseille the word, Play Nice, On a Good Notre Dame and Le Cordon Bleu
L to R – Romantic, Visionary and Muse
I have not tried a lot from tarte, but what I have tried I love. Their LipSurgence line is fabulous and the mascara is my go-to for everyday. The cheek stain is definitely one of my favourites in this set, as it is the perfect nude shade and applies so creamy and blends incredibly well. I haven’t tried the setting powder or the Maracuja oil yet, but I’m expecting great things based on their positive reviews.
Tarte is a cruelty-free brand and all of their products are formulated without the use of parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate and gluten.
To be honest, some of the eyeshadows in the palette do not have the greatest colour payoff (see Moulin Rouge, Fall in Louvre and Chantilly Lace), but to be unimpressed with only 3 of the 20 eyeshadows is not enough to make this set a disappointment. Overall, I absolutely adore this set and am so happy with it. The amount of products you get for the price is insane and I highly recommend this set for yourself or someone you know—whether they are a devoted tarte lover or wanting to try a higher end, cruelty-free brand.
