I am absolutely in love with printed pants/trousers right now. I love how you can dress them up or down and they make an otherwise basic outfit more interesting. I wore this to the Alex Colville exhibit that is currently on at the Art Gallery of Ontario (which was amazing and you should go see it). Though these pants were a little pricey for Joe Fresh, I am so happy I bought them, as they have been getting a lot of wear. I had wanted a pair of loose, printed pants for awhile, but the ones I had tried on before were all either too long in the legs and looked like pyjamas or too snug on the butt/loose in the waist. These ones are great as they have a drawstring and hit just at the ankle. I have worn these so much this summer and the neutral pattern makes them easy to transition into autumn.
What I’m wearing:
Printed pants – Joe Fresh
Top – Romwe
Loafers – H&M
Bag – Target
Necklace – Urban Outfitters
I paired the pants with my ‘chicken cutlet’ shirt as I lovingly call it because well, that’s what the cutouts remind me of. I’m not one for showing cleavage, but I’m all for an exposed back. Plus, the cutouts on this shirt are not too low that I have to go braless.
Bracelets – H&M and shops in Guatemala
Ring – shop in Guatemala
Nails – Essie ‘Maximillian Strasse-Her’
My day-to-day makeup look is pretty minimal and I usually stick with that for my evening looks as well, but with a bit more oomph (and double the products used). I’ve also been skipping foundation lately and opting for tinted moisturizers and concealers instead which have been yielding better, more natural results. I’m also not very daring with lip colours or eye makeup, but that is something I want to experiment with more (I’m also not a makeup artist…clearly, so it’s all a learning process for me).
Smashbox Cream Eye Liner in ‘Thunder’ (Discontinued)
Some of these products are my absolute favourites which I want to go into more detail with in future blogposts. However, the one product I have to mention here is the NARS lipstick in ‘Dolce Vita’. I am slowly trying to wear lipstick more often, but I have a hard time with it because as soon as it’s on my lips it’s all I can think about. As Grace Helbig perfectly put it, ‘it’s like having a baby on your mouth, you just have to watch it all the time.’ That being said, I’m not confident enough to leave the house with a darker, matte lip quite yet, but I’m all over more pink, nude shades like this one. I love this lipstick because it’s a sheer dusty rose and for me this is the perfect ‘your lips but better’ shade and it’s so easy to wear. It is also super moisturizing and I can reapply this without a mirror which is a BIG DEAL.
If anyone has some good lipstick tips or recommendations – do share!
